    • Unexpected Quit

      Hello
I was wondering if anyone could help me with an odd problem. The ColdStone engine quits whenever I try to create a preview of a map in the Location Editor.

I am on a G3 running OSX and everything seems to work fine until I click on the preview icon. My map is 960x960. Coldstone asks if the preview should be 430x430. I thought Coldstone might scale the picture if I chose a smaller size. If I click yes, it quits. If I use 960x960 for the preview size that just comes back with a blank screen. This also happens when I go to the Tools Menu and select Create a preview (it also happens when I try to export the image as a PICT). I thought there might be a problem with the map that I created (it does have the correct name), but I tried reloading a preview from one of the tutorial's existing Locations and it happens then too.

I have been able to do a workaround by taking a screenshot of the map in the Map Editor, editing it and scaling it to 430x430. I then name it the same as the Location, save it as a PCT and place it in the correct folder. When I open the Location Editor, I can then see the map. Needless to say this is kind of a pain. Does anyone know what I need to do? I'm pretty new at this.

One thing I did notice when I was doing the workaround above was that the map created by the screenshot is not square. At 50% it is 480x470. I chopped off part to make it square.

      Thanks for any advice. MoonJC

    • This is definitely a REALbasic bug (which was used to make the editor portion of Coldstone). I'm currently working with the REALsoftware guys to find the bug or a workaround. You can launch Coldstone under classic to create your map previews for the moment.

This might help you though: one very odd workaround I found for this problem (but it is so odd that it can be working only here on my OSX computer): open the name generator tool before generating your preview (and let it open).
