      代on customized controls
代ot full speed on my g3
      代ot enough NPC editing
付 would like to be able to customize it more(controls, battle system etc)

      But it is darn good!

You can't customise the controls? Ack! That was one reason I'd not been playing PoG - I use a Dvorak keyboard, and Z and X are 6 keys apart!

WHen creating your own games, you can make the controls be anything you want. However, I do not know how to customize the controls to already made games yet. I don't know if a plug-in's controls override that of the parent application when a conflict occurs, but if it does, then a plug would be all you need to rearrange them in PoG. Can someone who knows more than me help out?

Can you let your users change them?

If not, it's not so bad, but I'd much rather I didn't have to build one version for me, one for the rest of my team...

    • How can I for example change the movement controls(up,left, right, down arrow keys)?

Unfortunately, as far as I know, you would have to do separate builds (or at least separate plug-ins) for this. Granted, I'm no expert. 🙂

How come you didn't try playing it with the mouse (that's what I've been doing... though I've been using the "i" for inventory key and the "tab" key to look at the map).

If PoG allows the mouse to be used to control the game, can't other people design games that work with this rather than worrying about the keyboard?

Oh, and on a totally different note, if you're using a Mac, can't you use the system software to fool it into thinking that it's using a Qwerty keyboard while you're playing PoG, and use whichever keys are sitting where the Z and X keys would be?

I havd a laptop - it's frustrating to use a trackpad to play.

Yes, I have a mac, and that is what I did... but the point is I shouldn't have to! Ambrosia normally gives their games a rather nice key customisation dialogue. The main problem with Coldstone is that it's not that flexible. You have to stick to Ambrosia's style of gameplay that they developed. I'd much rather have a different combat system, and also I really need dialogue as subtitles so the game can 'flow'. If things were more editable, it'd be easier.

Dee, Coldstone is a remarkable achievement. Your balance between structure and flexibility is perfect. It also seems to be robust and reliable, which are primary requirements of any programming tool. Well done, adn we are going to have fun! 5 sticks 🙂

    • 5 joysticks for me. Such a minor squabble as not being able to have parties or go berserk and attack the friendly NPC's mean little. 🙂 Actually, the last probably helps the designer more, but I got hours of enjoyment from fireballing small villages in Baldur's Gate... 🙂 Hey Andiyar! Get over here and vote for the motherland! 🙂

    • Amorya, I don't think Ambrosia actually made Coldstone. I could be wrong but I think it was made by Beenox and published by Ambrosia.

    • That's right, Kelsan.
edit: PS: 5 joysticks in my book.
