Ambrosia Garden Archive
    • [sniff]...you guys...[/sniff]

I'd just like to say what a brilliant idea it is to publish Coldstone under Ambrosia. Not only are you guys some of the best coders/artsits/people in the business, but you are one of the most user friendly group of people on the internet. Right, now I've got that out of the way, lets get on to the questions!

**You can either distribute it for freely, or you can publish it through Ambrosia (subject to Ambrosia's acceptance of the game, of course). Ambrosia Software, Inc. is planning to publish an entire series of Coldstone-based games (similar to AD &D; modules) created by various talented people who use the Coldstone engine. We'll take care of the publicity, operations, order taking, etc., you just work on making a great game!

The engine will also be licensable for commercial/shareware distribution, should wish to "go solo" and publish your game on your own.**

      1. Could I have some more information about this please, woudl the game be licensed to you? How much would we be able to charge for registration? Would the game get as full coverage as all your other games (Escape Velocity, Ferazel)? Apart from these questions though, I think this is a very good idea.

      2. How much has the programme changed? I've got Beta 8.1 from the Beenox site, and it looks like there has been only cosmetic changes from looking at the screenshots. Is the engine scripting still the same?

      3. Will the programme have plug-in support similar to REALBasic? I always thought that this was a brilliant feature of REALBasic, that a third party company could create a plug in that alows you to add new things to the game engine. If this was implemented in Coldstone, I'm sure you'd have some of the programmes on the boards creating plug-ins.

      4. This isn't really a questoin, but I really love that image of the scientist creating his RPG. Who made it? Was it done by hand and then scanned in? Reminds me of my Games Workshop days...

    • Oh, another thing. Back when Coldstone was Beenox only, there was talk of a networkable feature. In your FAQ it says it isn't though...which is correct?

BTW. If you chose the wrong answer, I may have to flame you. 😉

    • Oh yeah, and I don't suppose I could Moderate this board could I? It could leave you two to coding, while I keep the grunts in line. 🙂 I'm experienced. I've got history of using Coldstone, and I always answer peoples questions. And I bet noone can remember the last time I even thought of spamming.

As far as I know, it's now a completely new thing. The beta was like Roy's fun house... and the full version is like Disney world. It has full NCP control, new battle system, new animation system, new everything. NOTHING is the same except the name and the tile map system. (Well, maybe some stuff is the same, but oh well...)

I bought a Venus Fly Trap today. I was going to name it "Republican", but the Fly Trap is benifical to the environment. I'll save that name, one day I might find a plant that eats poor people and minorities.

I also would like to ask these questions. Hell, the only thing different about what he said than what I would say is about already having a beta version. I never even knew of this type of program and already I want it. Is there anybody out there with answers?
