      ------------------
I recall forgetting everything, shortly after I remembered it all-just before I forgot to forget.

    • In general, Starcraft type battles because they go quicker. But in most RPGs, I need that strategic battle system of Final Fantasy.
I hate to do this, but I'll have to say that I can't decide between the two.

      ------------------

    • I prefer Final Fantasy type battles, specifically Final Fantasy Tactics type battles, it has much more strategy involved than in the normal Final Fantasys.

      ------------------

    • I would prefer Ogre Battle sytle fights, but out of the two above: Final Fantasy

Hip Hop Recomendation of the week: Dead Prez - Let's Get Free

    • I haven't really played Final Fantasy, or seen it, but from the descriptions I've heard...

      StarCraft.

I don't like turn-based that much. Sure its nice, but then you have an advantage over the computer (since humans usually go first on turn based).

      ------------------

    • I haven't played Final Fantasy, but if it's turn based, I'd have to go for StarCraft. Real time battles are just more exciting, and it can be made easier if you have the ability to pause to make strategic plans.

    • I like the turn-based FF-style battles.

Well, I haven't played either, but I am pretty sure FF is turn based, so I will have to go with StarCraft. Anything beats turn based. Even launching cows at the other player in 16 colors is better than turn based. Heh heh... it's too bad ColdStone is turn based...
      oh well.

Yes, same for me. I love the way SC plays, nice and quick, but you don't get all the information that makes a perfect game. FF games have the overbearing information that sometimes makes for a great game. I like FF games, but I really love the Ogre Battle games.

All depends on speed and surprise to see who goes first. Once again I will differ to Realmz for an example. If you're enemy surprizes you (the CoB Brothel :D) they will allmove first. If you surprize your enemy (random field battles) your people move first. They get options to defend, delay, attack, or just finish turn. Defend means the next enemy that comes into range, your man will attack. Enemies can do this too. In regular battles, it will randomize who will go first (I don't know how but it does) and alternate between your troops and theirs. Most of the time you will face an enemy who you can't defeat with a person and it will kill you on its turn :).

    • Turn based is mroe like real life. In a real-life situation, you don't get hours to ponder your next move (unless you're playing chess :)).

    • Final Fantasy style battles, definately. Real time just doesn't make sense for RPG's. When you are onlycontrolling a few characters then turn-based fights are the smoothest and overall have the best results. Real time fighting is best kept for larger (army) battles and fighting games.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. Real time is hard to do for RPGs and not many (if any) have been successful in making a fun real time RPG

    • I actually prefer starcraft type battles. Not identicle to SC but if you've ever played Secret of Mana or Evermore then you know what I am talking about. I like ring command type battles the most. Second to that comes Final Fantasy Tactics/Ogre Battle style battles. Those are great but level building is very very slow.
