Will I be downgraded?
So, I got the super homing device early by using the long-range pellet trick. That's not what worries me. 
What worries me is that the non-super homing device is still out there. What would happen if I were to pick it up? Would I get downgraded?

Nah, it would only add to your weapons list. If you didn't notice, you can switch weapons at will.

LOL, I don't think I could have made it as far as I have without switching weapons. That would have been a feat! 
If you follow the normal way, the super weapon upgrades (i.e., replaces) the old, not-super weapon. So you're saying I'd have an extra gun in the list? That would be annoying.
I think I'm going to try on a duplicate save, just to see. I need to find the homing device first though!
