    • EV/EVO Chronicles: The Meshlord-Chapter 2

The viper worked. Period. With fifty tons of extra weapon space, it could destroy anything.
Kain Lightningduck, the "esteemed" pirate, was piloting it. With new technology involving subatomic wormholes, the tiny craft could fit anything.
At the moment, Kain was advancing on a Federation carrior, from the rear. Hiding in the engine glare had been a pirate tactic for centuries, but until now, the pirates could never get close enough to fire from this position.
      Until now.
Three EMP torpedos blasted away, and the carrier cruised on, oblivious. It was not until they hit, starting a chain reaction to the power core, that the captain noticed anything amiss.
The engines shut down, then weapons, then life support. Mercifully, the core stretched, then shattered, utterly destroying the once-great vessel.
But then, Kain made a mistake. He relaxed, and didn't notice in time the three destroyers that were launched from New England. Laser blasts scorched the vacuum, and soon the shields were down. The odds were so imbalanced.
      Against the destroyers.
Five hellounds roared away in rapid succesion, disabling the first destroyer before it knew what hit it. Then Kain turned on the second, which, he noticed, was equipped with what looked like a huge missile launcher.
Out of that launcher came a sight to behold. A sleek, long, black missile cruised quickly towards the suddenly insignifigant-seeming Viper. But this little snake would not be conquered so easily.
With an amazing display of manueverability, the viper began riding on top of the missile, on its only blind spot. Kain docked, and slipped out the bottom hatch, onto the missile itself.
He pryed free the access panel, which was so huge it ripped a hole in the armor of the third destroyer, which had been preparing to blast Kain out of existance.
Kain slipped a disk into the port, and downloaded onto it the technical readouts of the missile. Then he set it to aim for the Fed base on New England, and quickly jumped back into his ship, and blasted away.

      ----------------

A few weeks later, Kain attended a pirate council meeting.
"Using the data that Capain Lightningduck has gained for us, we have been able to find all the weak spots in this incredible weapon," the leader (who was at that time called Quisor--anyone who found his real name never woke up again) told the assembled captains.
"Then we shall build an countermeasure, of course," said one captain.
"No, we shall fix them and build our own. By next year, the Federation shall be no more!" declared Quisor, which caused a great cheer to go up from the assembly.

    • Dear EVula,

I know you are trying to clean out the closet but this is becoming rediculous. The official posting of current crons has slowed to a snail's pace and we are becoming tired of reading old_short_dry crons insread of the fresh_long_in-depth crons that we all love. Please, if you must post these then post them two at a time so the newer ones will be posted sooner. You promised ElGuapo7's Station Six:Part Two , please deliver or we'll just have to read them unofficially on the pending crons board.

      I don't think that exists.

Or maybe only keep them up for half a day. Whatever please bring back the interesting chronicles.

I'm kinda wondering just what you're talking about here. I'm posting stories three days a week; the pace is a hell of a lot faster than it has been in a long time.

No one is forcing you to keep coming here. Go do things in the Real World if you're tired of reading these runts; when you come back, the Chronicles will still be here.

No. The Chronicles are set up so that the most recently added story gets the spotlight; moving them two at a time means that one of them doesn't get any time on the front. Yes, these most recent additions are sub-par compared to some in the past, but do bad writers get better by having no one read their stories?

Firstly, do not tell me how to do my job. I've been running the Chronicles longer than you've been registered here, and I've been a moderator for Ambrosia even longer; I know what I'm doing, regardless of whether anyone else does or not.

Secondly, I promised Guapo's story on a pre-determined schedule. That schedule calls for it to be released this upcoming Monday. It will not be released before then, regardless of what absolutely anyone says.

Thirdly, I couldn't care less if you want to go read it on the pending chronicles board; there's nothing I can do to stop you from reading anything as soon as its posted there.

Fourthly, all this whining is very ill-timed; I'm about to run out of the runts anyway. I'm surprised you don't know this already, saying as I've already announced as much at the same time I mentioned ElGuapo's story ((url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum20/HTML/000300.html")here(/url)).
