    • EV/EVO Chronicles: A New Beginning

Rendel slammed into the side of the Carrier, taking out a fighter bay, and three docked Pheonixes.

"No!" cried Stastima. "He didn't have to do that!"

"Calm down, Ace 2," cackled the com. "We have work to do"

"Sure, Ace Leader, I'm going in," Stastima reported, holding back his tears. Rendel was one of his best friends.

Stastima piloted his Patrol Ship expertly, dodging railgun slugs, hail rounds, and fusion pulse fire. As he got closer to the flagship, an Auroran Carrier, the intensity increased. He was able to ionize the Carrier before he was forced to get out. He was not about to commit suicide.

A pack of Vipers came at the Carrier from behind, dispersing the last of the shields and digging into the armor. They were quickly broken up by point defense systems. The Federation Carrier Revenge recalled the pack, but one Viper was hit by a railgun slug, and crashed into an asteroid. The Revenge decided that enough was enough. It launched missile after missile, with alarming speed. The Auroran Carrier was hit over and over, and soon it was finished. The Carrier's hull exploded, sending large chunks of debris floating in space.

The Revenge called all ships back into formation, but Stastima didn't show up. Nor did he appear on any scanner. The fleet assumed the worst, and left the system, for refueling and repairs.

The system was empty, excepting debris, one or two disabled Auroran fighters, and a cloaked Patrol Boat. As it came back into reality, a Wormhole appeared near the other edge of the system. A massive ship, the size of a small moon, flew out of it. It was smooth, and yellow-grey in appearance. It had an extensive array of panels that were home to fighter bays, weapons, and scanners of all varieties.

"It's about damn time," muttered Stastima, used to using English by this point. "I was nearly killed."

The massive ship opened a large panel on the side, and Stastima made his way inside the ship. The ship turned slowly around, like a tortoise, and light shone from some of the devices on the bow.

At this moment, a relatively small independent trading vessel entered the system through hyperspace. As the massive ship left through another wormhole and seemingly blinked out of existence, the pilot of the trading vessel sat and watched with wild eyes. No one would believe his story.

    • Looks good, looks real good. Am I correct in assuming that this is part of something else? If it is, it's a great intro, and if it isn't, please explain just what the hell happened. 🙂

    • Great action. I do hope there is more plot in future installments, and maybe a slight explanation.

It was very good. Its nice to see so many people use techniques of Charles Dickens to keep an audience interested. 😄

    • Great work. This is one of the few chronicles that I've read entirely.

Some Vell-os with new technology spying on the Beaureu(sp)? Nah. Hyperoid? Don't think so. Wraith? Nah; they're too weird. Krypt? Hmm... Or a new alien species? Well, I'll be glad to read the next one, either way, whenever it comes out. 😉

    • That is very cool. I really like the last line. Poor trader... heh. Yeah, so, what the heck just happened? Who was Stastima? Anyway, very mysterious, very good.

      /gives thumbs up

    • EVula works on getting the chronicles through the line, but (edit)don't(/edit)get on his back, because he's swamped and probably doesn't remember every single chronicle that he revises.

It takes a while to get a chronicle out. It took about two and a half weeks for mine to get out. It's faster than it used to be...

      (edit) very late edit (/edit)

    • The second installment of my story misteriously disappeared...

But really it doesn't matter anymore because noone seemed to care when it was out. But I'll be back...with a new story that will have already been mostly completed...
      See you in eight months...

    • Wow! That story is great. I hope there is a sequel or something. It really leaves you hanging.

It almost sounds like something about a plugin....

Erm, no, your story didn't mysteriously disappear, it just happens to be in the middle of a bunch of REALLY short stories that I've slated to post one a day for a week when I run out of other stories to put up; as a result, I simply didn't see it. It was a total accident that it didn't go up this week, and I do apologize for it. It'll go up next week.

      Again, my apologies.

Hey, you registered. Good for you. Doesn't hurt, does it?

Plug-in? Maybe, but quite a bit of the stuff on here sounds like pluggable stuff.

    • Yeah, it's a project I'm working on. I don't know about a "Part 2", this is just a teaser for the story. I'll probably post other stuff soon, though. Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. It really helps.

      ------------------

    • I will say only this. It has potential but without filling it out with detials and descriptions, it is hard to properly understand what is happeneing in the fight. My nagging aside, I think that your idea is superb. 😉

      ------------------

    • Oh, well thats good news. I thought that some error had occured while submitting it and lost hope after so many weeks of waiting. Anyways, I don't think I'll be able to start back up since I haven't written much more of it. But I guess I'll try.
