Luckily the tracker made it through the whole thing this time, except some minor refresh errors. I was postively surprised about the quite big number of players. Most important: it was fun again!!!
See You all on the tracker, thanks for playing and have fun! And thanks to Helix for keeping the tourney "somehow announced" 🙂

    • There is a mistake in Round 2, isn't there?
      ---------------------
      1. Eno vs. 3. SHOES 3-2
      ---------------------
      I haven't won - he did!

      ------------------
Please correct me! I'm a pupil learning English.

    • Yeah, the tournament last night was a lot of fun, even though I didn't play well...
I guess it all comes down to the fact that I don't really get as much pop practice as I used to....

Anyway, I'm thinking about hosting another tournament next week on Sunday (well, it's kinda obvious why I want to do another tournament so soon....). I'm definitely up for another tournament...what about everyone else?

      C U all later

      Helix

      ------------------

    • CONGRATULATIONS HYKO!!!!! well done!!!
sorry i couldn´t be there, i would have loved to play but had guests for dinner. i hope to be able to play the next one.
i am a bit surprised and disappointed that the congratulating-stuff and after tournament-celebrations seem to have disappeared - i think we shouldn´t get so used to tournaments that we forget to appreciate those who win!!! that should be the winners price, and as i remember for me that was even better than the "real" prices (when there were real prices)!
so again, congratulations to the winner hyko!!! i´m very proud of you! 🙂 (but i´ll try to make it hard for you next time!! ;))

      ------------------

    • Yes indeed, thanks to Hyko and Helix for a great tournament. I'm just mad I ended up in sixth place, when I won more rounds that Lish! Why isn't the tie-breaker after round differential rounds won, instead of rounds lost?! 😉 But really, it was amazing to see 4th-7th place so close: it just shows that we're all at about the same skill level, I guess.

We had some, didn't we, in the IM chat afterwords... at least, most of the players were there. It may have been cut a little short because Hyko had to go drink or something, 😉 but I don't think it felt like things were any less pleasant and personable.

And I sure hope you can make it next time Lumisa... and that next time will be soon! 😄

Oh I didn't see that You were tight by rounds-difference and we never had this case before. The query for the table only sorts by gameswon DESC, roundsdiff DESC. It makes sense to extend this with roundswon DESC. But AFAIR we wanted to handle ties between two players by looking on the individual result between the two players. The system does not take this into account yet, but yesterday it was correct by accident because lish won against squibix 3-1...

But i think this is a point open to discussion.

BTW Thanks all for Your congratulations.

    • Interesting to see that initial placements of 1-4 exactly reversed themselves. Congrats to Hyko for pulling that one off!

Well played everyone, sorry I couldn't make it, but you know me on Thursdays 😉

Oh yeah, that's right; I formally withdraw my complaint. 😄 Congrats, Lish!

    • I agree, it was an excellent tourney last night and more than made up for the previous fiasco. The standard of play was so good too, even though we seem not to have played much recently. I was very relieved to make it into the second round after some harsh kickings from Lish, Texas and Eno.

Congratulations Hyko, and well played. I thought that it was quite fitting that we made it to the final, considering that exactly a year ago we were 2 of the original 'sad gits' who played pop-pop non-stop! It just goes to show that practice pays off in the end. 😄

Hard luck Helix, I am amazed you didn't win one game! But was very amused by your frustration. 🙂 And thanks again for keeping the tourney alive, I didn't think it was going to happen, I was amazed when I saw all the players.

Well, second place 🆒 there's life in this old dog yet!

Well, getting frustrated was not the way to go, because the more frustrated I got, the worse I played.....

    • Sorry I had to leave early - currently I'm on a shared computer (well it's my computer, but the phone line isn't mine) as I've just moved out of my parents' house. Hopefully I can get some form of broadband connection going soon. I hope to be able to play the whole of the next tournament.

    • i´m glad my impression was wrong! who am i to judge it anyways, since i wasn´t even there :). i was led by the lack of replies to this post (at the time) and didn´t even think of the "after-tourney-chat" which i obviously missed. sorry about that.

i would love to play the next tourney, but i will be gone for 4 weeks starting tomorrow, so i will probably miss the next one as well. :frown:
i wish everybody a great summer 🆒 ,lots of fun and great games!
      see you soon!!

Many thanks for the Karma-Praise. As You write it in Your disclaimer, many others would have "earned" that too, but I am happy about it anyway. Looking forward to hosting and/or playing further tourneys soon.
