    • pop etiquette?

      8 10 1371

      On my pop-pop page I included a section about etiquette (which word I can never seem to spell), but there's nothing in it yet. But I do think in net games, especially quick ones like pop-pop, there are a bunch of things people can do to make games more pleasant; and some other ones that can be really irritating to the people you're playing. So if anyone has any suggestions as to things that could go in either category, let me know, so I can get on to filling that page. Thanks! ๐Ÿ˜„

    • Usually the people want to get on with the game when it just starts. I'd save all the talking for the end, but that's just me.

    • I'm probably guilty of this, but...

      Changing the difficulty.

      Giving your opponent handicap.

      Repeatedly clicking on every single pop before choosing one.

      Yeah, I'm guilty.

    • Don't open up a chat dialoge and not say anything... if you have to get up and do something, leave a little message.

      If you're going to play against someone totally out of your leauge, don't ask them too "please go easy"... than again, don't discourage someone who is just starting out by spamming them like crazy...unless their being really annoying ๐Ÿ˜‰

      If someone says 'nice game' or 'gg' it's considered polite to respond...even if they just beat your pants off.

      Don't ask where a person lives or their age or their sex... I think for a community like pop pop, this is kinda unncessesary. If you are chatting with the person for a while, and you're the curious, type, it's not so bad. Just don't ask "A/S/L?" That's annoying...and less IM chat too...

      That's all for now!

      Yes, it is the same with saying something like "thanks for the games" and giving no chance for a reply no matter if won or lost.
      In general: just quitting/ disconnecting without giving the other one the chance to reply on a last sentence IMHO sucks.

      hehe ^_^

      I'm amused that your page talks about the opponent being a 'she' ^^ I tried loading your page in safari here, but it did not work, so I settled to view it on my PC while writing on the laptop. One of the rare joys of having a Windows box ^~ Hey you guys - IE on the PC still does more pages properly, even if it does look like something out of the stone age ^_~

      FWIW, you can view my own comments on what has become my little corner of (url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/rchristie/various/pop_pop/#etiquette")Crono's page(/url). Mostly it is repeats of what you have said, but you've got some new things there too. Maybe I should update it again. ^_^;

      We had a topic a while back on mini-t, if I remember. I still do not see what the problem with playing him is, other than that he is a very easy opponent to beat! ^^; (Though admittedly harder when I am playing at night on the trackpad!) Frankly I hate playing Bombastic and Mr Man most - the former because of the way he forces you into the powerdowns when the game is feeling funny, and the latter obviously just because of my own preference in playing style. ^~ This doesn't make the game any less fun though. People who complain usually just have not played against the pop enough to develop counter tactics ^_^;

      Final comment, baka, - you misspelt 'home' in your link at the bottom ^_~

      Nice site ^_^

      Sure! We have to be politically correct these days, especially since so many of the best pop players are female! ๐Ÿ˜„ I did try and mix it up a bit: some items use 'he's.

      Yeah, Safari still doesn't do overflow: auto, though I bet it will in the next update. Until then you can just go to my index page and switch to the Safari-bug-workaround style sheet.

      Cool, I'll add that link to my page.

      Heh. That's one of my poor attempts at humor, I'm afraid. ๐Ÿ˜„

      iยดve been wanting to say this for weeks now, since i think i started the "bad-pop-discussion"... it is not that i donยดt like mini-t or tex because i find them harder, i just donยดt enjoy the game that much when i play against them - i think they are really annoying - no matter if i win or lose - which is as well why i never use them. but of course i think everybody should be free to chose which ever pop he likes!!
