Forgive me if this has been answered in this or another forum, but is there a way to configure Norton Firewall for Mac osX to accept the tracker in pop-pop?

Prior to installing the firewall, the tracker would load almost instaneously. Now, it does not load at all.

If anyone can provide specific instructions on allowing this program to work while keeping the firewall intact would be greatly appreciated.

More specifically, what type of service (e.g. -- dhcp, dns, etc...) does the tracker use and which port number do i use? I noticed that in the pop-pop folder under the support folder, there is a text file displaying the port number for the version you are using as well as "tracker.ambrosia.net".

      Thanks.

    • What are you doing using Norton Firewall? OS X has a great firewall built into it, if you want to up the security you just need to teak the start-up script, if you’re not familiar with Unix, there’s a fab little shareware application called BrickHouse (search on Google) that will do the job for you. If you want to stick with Norton pop-pop uses port 33333, hope that helps. 😄

I don't think anyone on the tracker is going to try and hack you..

Right but I would like to keep the firewall or any other firewall intact for other apps while still being able to play pop-pop without disabling it.

    • Hi C,

How did you get on with those apps and tweaks? Did you work out if it was tcp or udp, or did you opt for Bricky? Hope all's ok, let me know how you get on.
