    • Capuring a ship

I'm currently making an add-on for Ares, and I need a little help. I'm trying to design a ship that will become disabled, then be able to be captured by an assault transport. Making the ship become disabled is easy, but trying to make it so that when an assault transport lands it's EVA Troopers on the disabled ship, it will delay for a while (being repaired) then become operational again (under the control of the player who sent the Assault Transport).
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    • I tried to do this once and after several failed attempts I gave up... You might remember (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum13/HTML/000327.html")this(/url)... brookeview was me back then...

    • Ah yes.. I do remember that topic. I know I can make a ship that gets disabled, then waits for a bit, repairs itself, and returns to it's previous form. It's the capturing part that gets me (I take it that's the trouble spot).

    • Well, I've figured out how to do it. It's a little buggy, but it works. If I make the disabled version almost identical to a space station (different graphics and no weapons), and give it an expiration time, it'll work. The only problem is that the graphic of my ship put in place of the station is always straight up-and-down, and the 'repaired' ship acts a little strange... I'm gonna try and fix that now.
Heh, my best guess to why this forum is so empty is because if you fiddle around long enough with Hera, you either figure out your problem, or realize it's impossible and find a work-around. 😛

Yeah I too sorta got it to work but never like I wanted it to. What strange things is the repaired ships doing, I seem to remember mine flying in circles or something. As for the emptiness, I completely agree.

    • My repaired ship was acting pretty much like it had no AI. It would just drift until it collided with something. I just figured out that it was just a few screwed up flags, and got it fixed. Everything is working just fine now, except that the in-game names get screwed up and it's never created facing the right direction. Oh well.. two bugs the add-on can live with. Thanks for you input.
