    • Mission ideas for new plug


      I'm making a plug but I'm dry on mission ideas. Heres a direct copy (without the #+s of course) of the intro text to give you an idea of my plugins storyline.

      The Leptians are a ruthless race. Bound to take over the known galaxy they will crush any race that gets in their way. They have a gigantic empire capable of building many versatile warships. Their reasons for doing this are unknown. They have conquered already 3 entire races. The Leptians are known as "The Unstoppable Conquerers" by many races who have heard of them. Races near their systems live in fear of attacks while even races far from the border or anywhere near it shudder at the name.

      The Agroduns were one of the races in the way of the Leptians. A simple trading empire, they had a small cluster of planets to the galactic south. They were a peaceful race and had no intentions of war. When the Leptians came, they were unprepared. They began losing several outposts at the edge of their space. They were forced to war to protect themselves from extinction.

      Attacks increased and started weakening their outer defences. It looked like they were doomed, until the Agrodun commander planned something. "There has to be a way to avoid becoming extinct like all the other races the Leptians have conquered." said the determined commander.

      The Agroduns started building their own warships to counter the Leptian threat. The determined Agroduns were not going to fall to the Leptians. Eventually the 1st Agrodun fleet was launched. It was a success, they managed to destroy raiding Leptians at an outpost to the east of their space. The Agroduns started colonizing nearby systems to gain resources. New weapons were invented and shield technology was found. It will be a close war.

      Now the great Leptian war is upon them. They're not winning...

      It is up to you as commander to save Agrodun space from the evil Leptians.

      Heres a bit of background on what's already happened.

      Part one- colonized nearby systems providing resources and defended several areas. Invented new prototype ship (the heavy cruiser)

      Part two- started an offensive against Leptians. Captured attack outpost.

      I plan to have at least twenty missions in the plugin. 10 are done.

      now for each races ships

      Agroduns

      Cruiser
      Fighter
      Carrier
      Heavy Cruiser (seen later)

      Leptians

      Cruiser
      Fighter
      Carrier
      Gunship (seen later)
      Gateship (I'm not copying Ares. You don't win by blowing up the gateship.)

      For the graphics I kinda suck at making them so I made some use of the placeholder graphics and for the Leptian gunships and gateship I used Grolk vessels. If someone could make breifing pictures of all these I would much appriciate it.

      Finally you can offer to beta test but you wont recieve the copy until it's completed and in it's beta stage duh. I'll only accept 10 beta testers and that's it. First come first served.

    • How about a Leptian "Doomsday" weapon that will be capable of destroying entire systems? Or something like that... How about the Leptians capture all but one Agrodun planet, and then the Agroduns make a sneak attack? I've got an idea for a weapon: A Helix Cannon, a cannon capable of blasting a super-pulse that can obliterate a carrier?

    • I would presume that:
      There is one underlying weakness to the Leptians, some kind of very important station that acts as commanding office and central control. Probably the last mission would be to destroy it and completely undermine the Leptian military.

      Another mission idea:
      To protect an incoming shipment of technology. The Scientists have been able to modify Leptian technology from captured ships. This includes new weapons to destroy the Leptian shielding, better protection against Leptian weapons, etc.
      The Leptians have found out about this shipment and will try to destroy it once it reaches its destination.

    • Hmm. Great ideas. Actually for the helix cannon I've already made an Agrodun "superweapon." It's called the positron pulse cannon. It's got original sprites yay :D! Also my plug will do something I don't think any plug has. New energy blobs! Those ideas more suit later laevels but I guess I can make some leading up to them.

    • I thought of a great idea for a last level. To destroy the Leptians you have to use a special transport modified to carry these probes which will destabilize the star in their home system and cause a chain reaction that will destroy the entire system. I could do this by using the land at command to make the probes "land" on the star then do what ares did for the final destruction of the gateship and make it blow up for a few moments sending deadly fireballs everywhere that you have to successfully evade. Than of course the big dramatic BOOOM! at the end. Tell me what you think of this, improvements and such.

    • Your plug is really awesome. You all have great ideas. How many missions are complete now? Oh, by the way, I'll sign up for beta testing. I'll even create some objects and weapons for you. 🙂 I've also got some great graphics for you.

      I didn't put too much sprites in that, because it took up too much memory. I didn't put any HVD's and carriers in there. I got lots of cool planets though.

    • I read it, let me say I'm decidedly unimpressed with the story. I think it's far too cliched. What you have essentially is 'Aggressor attacks Harmless. Harmless fights back.'

      Go back to the storyboard and try and refine it more. Make it more complex, you know. Also, avoid 'good/evil' confrontations. You might like them, but I find them as boring as hell.

    • Here's a tip; try writing a chronicle set in your story universe. If you've exhausted all your story ideas, then I guarantee that will bring up some new ones.
