'Calvin and Hobbes' and 'Garfield' are at the opposite ends of the comic strip spectrum.
1. Calvin and Hobbes has no merchandise connected to it. Any you may see is illegal.
Garfield is on everything imaginable.
2. Calvin and Hobbes started funny, got better, and ended funny.
Garfield ran out of jokes about two years into its run (but the strip was pretty funny for those first 2 years.)
3. Bill Watterson, the writer of Calvin and Hobbes, had no assistance at all when he wrote the strip.
Garfield is drawn by a team of about 20 people.
Garfield strips now are pretty much Garfield making some extreme reaction to something (celebrating, dancing, etc.) the whole 6 or so frames. It sucks.
