    • Anathema v1.2 Public Beta

Yes, after hundreds of work hours and 55 pages of walkthrough, I'm about to give the Anathema Chapters 1-2 v1.2 patch the green light. First though, I'd like to put up a portal here for anyone who would like to try it out before I upload it to the Nova add-ons page. Anyone can feel free to try it, and you may post any thoughts or bug reports on this thread.

      Full version available here
      Patch only available here

I highly, highly recommend you download the full version, as the patch-only version has not been as rigorously tested. It comes only with a patch, walkthrough, and bit bible, while the full version will replace all your old Anathema data files. The patch-only is really only for those who have very slow/faulty connections (G-Spark?) and not recommended except as a last resort.

Anyways, have at it! I'll try to have the final version submitted to the add-ons page by Friday or Saturday at latest.

    • Hey! It's not that bad.

So do I have to make a new pilot or something?

    • No, old pilots are completely compatible.

    • Can you upload the plugin through something different? Megaupload is being a ***** as it doesn't recognize Panama <_<

    • I won't be able to for a few hours, but since I've squashed what I believe are the final few bugs, I'll probably be uploading it to Ambrosia by tonight anyways.

Edit 6/7/08: The number of downloads from MegaUpload just jumped from 2 to 12 in one night, so I'm going to give it a few more days for bugs to be found.

Also, and FYI to anybody who has downloaded for testing: I fixed an issue with the Titan's energy regen and removed a particular command (f1027) from a number of g3 ships (that's only for chapter 3).

    • Hi Archon, I'm playing through the plugin, working great so far, although at the beginning (when I was only getting 'destroy x fleet' or 'destroy rebel cell' missions) I thought I had done something wrong and not started the right campaign (or refused a vital mission by accident)

One question though, I have a pilot who is stuck in Hell - is there any way to escape (other than Apple+Q) , or am I damned forever?

    • If you fail a critical mission, you have to escape back to the menu and re-open the pilot.

In other news, I'll throw the final version up on megaupload tonight while I wait for the upload to the Ambrosia server.

aaaah! I thought I may have inadvertently downloaded a beta, since all the ships cost a 10th of what they should, and the Sentinal turns in a very strange manner.

Looking forward to playing the final 🙂

    • Welcome to the boards, Spir0s! Enjoy your stay!

There is no final version, but there is a chapter 3 that's coming up soon...

Hmm, what do you mean by "a strange manner?"

The price reduction you're seeing is due to the rank the pilots have (which is actually part of stock Nova). It reduces the cost of all ships at Federation ports to 10%.

(edit) OK I lied, I ran out of time tonight and will have to wait until tomorrow to upload the final version. Plus, I want to wait until I find out what this "strange turning" Sentinel is since I probably won't release another update until Chapter 3 is out (unless there's some huge bug).

    • I purchased a sentinel from Sol, and if you turn 360 degrees, it doesn't turn at the same rate all the way through.. sometimes it speeds up or slows down at certain point. I'm no nova Dev, so i can't comment on whether it's problem with Spin resources or anything 😞

Anyway, I then captured a polaris dragon and used the sentinel as my escort, but now the dragon is also exhibiting the strange turning rates. Releasing the sentinel from its escort duty restores my Dragon to normal turning.

Would a pilotlog help at all?

    • Couldn't hurt. I think I remember seeing something like that ages ago (like 2+ years), so maybe it'll come back to me.

      What's your FPS?

    • Can you do a little experiment for me? Just spin in a circle with the Sentinel and fire its IPC. If the weapon exhibits the same speeding/slowing behavior, then it's either an FPS problem or something along those lines.

    • i think the problem is that the spin that was used wasn't made properly.

    •

Now that I've got that out of the way...

I found the problem because of the same problem with a ship I just put in today. The "Pointing Correction" flag does something entirely different from what I thought; namely, it makes everything work terribly.

So anyways, thanks for the tip off there Spir0s!

    • sorry for my ill concieved um comment. aka sorry archon please forgive me please.

    • Pfft, don't worry about it. No idea is every a bad one in debugging. 😉
