    • Fyrephin's victory...or defeat??

      Fyrephin: oh no!!
      MikeyMooMooHead: what?
Fyrephin: Mag Steel just messaged me
Fyrephin: I have to play him
      BloodEagle2002: ...

So, what was the result? Fyrephin lost, or won? (Psst. The odds of Fyrephin winning against Mag Steelglass are about, like, 1-3. Heh heh...) Who won?

    • I think it's 3:1, oddly enough, since you'd think that it would be 3 somethings for every 1, but apparently it's the other way around (1/3). Strange stuff.

    • We only played one and he won that pretty easily. We're due to play the second tonight - I guess that's me out of the tournament.

Edit: Yep I was right - he beat me again. Well done Mag Steelglass.

    • We never actually got to playing again until this morning. I'll do the games in Patrick's format. First game was quite long and involved a lot of stuff, so it'll be a long description. It's also from my point of view, 'cause I didn't know what she was thinking and doing and such.

      Game 1-Mag Steelglass
      Sals vs Sals, Rock
I did my standard strategy of building gunships and having them all cloak, so the whereabouts of my fleet could never be told. She built gunships and a carrier. I finished my fleet, first, and warped out to engage her, but she didn't know I was approaching and headed with her fleet to my planet. I looped around and followed her in, and we fought over it. I wasn't used to the lag, so my hvd died very quickly. I was able to use one of my gunships to take out her hvd, though. Not destroy it, but I got it to very low health before she warped away with it. I took her fleet down pretty easily, but she did escape with some gunships. I had built a cruiser during that battle, as it was all I could afford, and it looked to me like I was losing. After she retreated, I kept trying to track down her fleet and finish it off, forgetting about Sal transports. Eventually, I sent half of my fleet to her planet to stop her from building more ships (should have done that sooner), while tracking her down with the other half. Before my fleet stopped at her planet, she built a gunship and forgot to cloak it, so I began following it with my stealthed fleet to see if it would lead me to hers. While following it, the radar zoomed way in and way out rapidly, so I circled back and dropped out of warp. It was a transport. I felt quite stupid for forgetting, and popped it with my gunship. I then cloaked my fleet again, and headed to my planet, which is where the uncloaked gunship had dropped out of warp. Sure enough, her fleet was there, and, with the ships she'd built, it had become the same size as the one I'd been searching for her with. Fearing that she might get control, again, I told my fleet at her planet to get over to mine asap, and tried to fight as well as possible. She left sometime during the battle, as it was about even right there, and I had reinforcements coming in.

      Game 2-Mag Steelglass
      Space Warz
Not really a game where each part can be remembered, much less being important enough to write down. I pegged her ship, she pegged mine, I pegged hers, she pegged mine, I pegged hers, and I won. I noticed that I had better aim at long distances, especially when we weren't heading straight towards each other. She definately had better aim up close, and was much faster at lining up accurately towards my ship when we weren't going at crazy angles to each other. Fortunately, I made keeping decently distant and going at crazy angles a decently large part of my strategy.
