    • Just as a joke, you should leave one of the systems named "Untitled System." I would find it highly amusing...for a few minutes.

Good luck on this TC. The storyline sounds interesting, and everything looks pretty good. I hope it turns out well so I can play it.

I would offer my lame assistance, but I'm already helping two other TCs right now. To think I had forgotten all about EV for several months...

it would make my job easier. 😄

    • I dowloaded bryce 5.5 today, and it is epicly awsome. I havn't figured out everything there is to know, but i'm learning.

I am also thinking of redoing my stations in a 2001 a space oddesy style. like the stations from classic EV, but more detailed. what do you think of the idea?

      I'm not dead yet 😉

      YŘDA

    • Go ahead and do it- show us what happens! 🙂

Also, I've been thinking (and I think this applies to many 3D modelers here, I'm not singling any one particular person out)- it might be a good idea to spend more time learning to texture, compared to modeling. A really good texture job on even a simple model can make it look really good, while even a nice complex model with a hastily put-together texturing job looks amateurish. Texturing, alas, is harder, though.

    • Here it is! the as of yet unnamed station. inspired by 2001 a space odyssey

      what do you think?

    • A 2001 motif would definitely give the game some charm and an aesthetic in the graphics that could quite possibly draw more players; simply to see what you have done with all of the different systems.

    • the space stations would be the only thing at all related to 2001 a space odyssey. everything else is completely different.

    • A small tip for better renders: 1. Go to materials->world and turn on ambient occlusion.
      2. Move your camera

    • I put the camera there becouse i remember's the station appearing in a similar position in 2001, ASO. it will also appear like that in game, or something similar. I will probably move the light source though, so you can see the lower ring.

I will try the ambient occlusion

    • ok. here is the 4 ring version wiht ambient occlusion:

    • here is the 4 ring with possible texture.

    • I have a question about modeling in blender. How do you seperate a mesh into 2 seperate objects?

    • Ummm, Help? I know it's posible, becouse I have done it before. I just can't remember how.

    • IMHO the oppulent occlusion would show up better than the dark grey textured version of the 4 rings. Can you get a lighter shade for the texture? Just a thought.

    • easily. but the space station is supposed to have a slightly dark, dingy appearance. if you want it to be lighter so you can SEE it better though, thats a whole different story. and it's Ambient Occlusion.

My bad. Ambient Occlusion. And like I said: My Humble Opinion. Lighter would be better for the ability to see it. Other than the shading, they all look really good.

also, UPDATE: i have made some of the ships of the infamous Apophis! i.e. some pencil drawings, and some 3D models, (Although these are still in their early stage.)

    • Update time! i thought i might post a ship for your enjoyment.

not really sure what to call this one. i'm gonna say Frigate for now, but if you have something better, please say so.
