You can have a splash screen, a loading screen, and a menu screen.
I know.

Yes there is, but it is complicated and may not be what you want
1. In the char screen type in (S128 | S129)
2. Create mission S128 and S129
3. Make them auto-abort
4. Add your picture to the intro text of each one~~Hmm or
1. Use the Intro Text in the Char resource to show a desc
2. The movie you will have to create (Windows Movie Maker is perfect if your on XP) (check the format)
3. In the movie place the pictures you want.
4. Accompany them with what you want (sound effects??)
5. Put the movie in the Nova Files folder
5. Type the movie name in the desc resource and selectCinematic Movie~~
Hash that, its rubbish, great if you want more pics, but doesnt allow randomness at all. My bad.
NB: I haven't tested any of this. I am not responsible for anything that may result (lost sleep, etc)

You know the loading screen after you see the ambrosia logo? The one with a supernova in the background, well thats what I'm replacing and I wanted to know if there was a way to have that loading screen be switched to something else everytime you started up Nova. But you can't, as I have been told.

I'm not sure you would be able to do that before the menu screen....I don't recall anything that about that in my resource guide.

Now that is a damn tempting side-track...
Argh...
Just 2 cameras placed slightly apart, a little photoshop work with tinting layers and transparency... ARGH NO!

Do it! Do it! Do it!

There are software packages that will do all the stereoscopic rendering work for you: you just need to make the models. I imagine you would have to make some ships somewhat bigger than they are in the stock scenario so you can actually see 3D details, but maybe it's possible. Someone should try it with one ship.
