You're right about interactive flash files not working, but non-interactive swfs don't have to be folded into QT movies; the "movie file" slot in the desc resource seems to be able to take any non-interactive audio or video file that QuickTime can handle -- .swf (through v5, at least), .mpg, .mp3, .gif, .mid, .txt....
