    • I'm surprised such plugins make it onto the addons pages regardless of whether or not they have permission. Why waste sever space by throwing together a bunch of seemingly random and unrelated plugins that already exist on the server and probably conflict with each other?

Sorry, there are sometimes good plugin packs, but I generally disapprove unless someone has actually gone to the effort of combining them into a single file or two and ironing out any conflicts between them all.

    • Hm, maybe I should change my do whatever you want with my plug-ins policy. I think I'll change that in the next release of Various Advanced Devices, which by the way, will combine the coolness of 2 with the actually working of 1. And it will have PlugPack compatibility.
      I couldn't resist a bit of self-promotion.

It seems this fellow just took everything in the plug-ins folders, called it a compilation, and submitted it. Does anyone actually look at the submissions?

    • For some reason I find myself extremely disappointed that I did not make that list.

      Bummer.

He's most likely a 12 year-old who wanted to gain credibility.

Well, he seems to have gotten more than he bargined for, since he never responded to any of the emails I sent him, one of them very helpfully including the updated add-ons rules.
He definitely lost credibility when he claimed it was a bunch of windows plugins he converted, yet a lot of them were submitted to the add-ons pages as windows plugins in the first place, and he didn't actually convert a few of the mac plugins he included. Mostly he just seems to be a kid who took everything in his plugin folder, and tried to see how much bragging rights he could get by resubmitting everything. He certainly doesn't seem to know much about plugins.

Good. Now I don't need to write all that.

    • I wonder if maybe he saw the proper PlugPack and thought it was all right to do that sort of thing. But even given that error in judgement, he still made several successive errors, like removing the readmes (which say "don't remove me"), failing to ask permission, et cetera, et cetera.

Nor did you need to write that you didn't need to write that. 😄

    • Don't come down on 12-year-old kids so hard you guys. After all, we don't know it was a 12-year-old kid. Might have been an 11-year-old kid 😉
But for the fact that he has not responded to WratheSniper's helpful emails, i would have more sympathy for him.

    • Has anyone tested the plug-ins to see if they are even all compatible? It doesn't seem to have made it to the Add-ons page, could you send it to me so I could do a quick test. (I love Duped, major props)
But maybe we should have some mercy, who hasn't submited stuff just to gain credibility, then failed? Just look at VAD2, now that was a rushed plea for cred. VAD3, now that was a slow, careful plea for cred.

    • It was tested for compatibility, but found lacking.

It was also added to the addons page, but was subsequently removed when someone noticed what it really was (and posted about it on the EV Nova board, where most of the discussion on this compilation can be found).
