    • Iusia's Disciple

      ID#

I captured Iusia's Disciple the other day, and I wanted to change 2 things:
      -the name of my ship
      -the outfits of the ship.
I can't change the outfits of the ship, because, when I sell stuff, I don't get any extra space...
So I checked my pilotlog for the id of my ship, and it was a Raven, a regular Raven.
So I what I want to ask is, where can I change the outfits of the Iusia's Disciple.
By the way, since I have captured it, I can't find any Ravens anymore, how comes?

    • When you capture a pers type ship it defaults back to its base type (ie, you don't get any of the extra weapons or shields the ship has) so it's actually pretty pointless.
I'm guessing the reason you don't get any more space when you sell outfits is that your current outfits take up more mass than the total possible on the ship. If you keep selling stuff you'll probably get some free space eventually.
To change the name of your ship you'll have to make a special something to do a Txxx.

    • But it still has all of it's capabalities, cause I have 5 cpl's instead of 4. But I'll check it out once more.

    • When you capture a pers ship, you get whatever weaponry it had as a pers ship. The pers ship shield strength multiplier (if any) is lost, however. You get no space for selling stuff from Iuso's Raven because the extra equipment it comes with as a pers ship takes up more room than a normal Nil'kimas raven has available. Sell enough stuff that the total mass of your outfits is less than the total mass available for outfits, and you'll get some free mass again.
Also, a pers ship, once captured (and taken as your ship? Not sure...), is gone forever. If it's been set to use an escape pod (or to act like it did), this is the only way to permanently get rid of it. I've found this to be quite important for getting rid of those blasted pers ship Fed Carriers that hold grudges...

Changing ship name: Go into the pilot file with resedit. See the ship name? Change the ship name. Simple. Don't change the contents of any of the resources, though, just the name. Otherwise bad things happen.

I'd reccomend ditching the EW missiles (since they take up mass, you can never reload), and the multitorps (unless you're going to play the Polaris storyline and will be able to buy reloads eventually). Then buy mass expansions 'till you have just over 20 tons of cargo space left. You should have at least some mass to work with by that point. If not... ditch some of the excess fighter bays. (I tend to remove all the fighters, but I know some people really like them, so decide that for yourself.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there absolutely no advantage to having 5 CPLs as of 1.0.8?

As far as I am aware, you are wrong. It should now do 5x the amount of damage per unit time as one CPL - apparently it was just doing more than that prior to 1.0.8. This is my understanding - and I could easily be wrong on this, because I haven't conducted an in-game test. If you have, please share the results.

    • Previous to 1.0.8, the beam multiplier bug was giving exponential damage rather than multiplied damage. This bug still exists in EV Nova for Windows as the version there is still only 1.0.6.
