I want to fight you before you submit.

I am new to making plugins, but decided to just jump headfirst into it all. I've been looking at the Nova Bible, and I have most of what I'm trying to do working...

but.

I've created a new syst and spob resource, and I want that spob to not let me land for any reason unless I've dominated them. I've looked at other spobs and copied the structure (as far as i can tell) exactly... (I was using Port Kane as a reference). However, when I "Demand Tribute"... they automatically capitulate. If I release them and re-demand, THEN they send the fleet after me.

I am utterly confused about this and any help would be appreciated.

Did you create a new pilot to test out the behavior? Strange things happen if you try to dominate a planet you added in after you created a pilot file.

Yep, that must be that, since the second time they send a defense fleet it means there is one in the spöb resource, just it is empty when you arrive for the first time. The engine does keep track of the ships that are left in a defense fleet, but it has not been made to handle the possibility of the data files and plugs changing over the course of the pilot life, so it has 0 set for the number of ships left in the defense fleet of the new planet since it didn't exist at pilot creation (the "number of ships left in defense fleet" emplacement has been left to 0 for planets that didn't exist (yet)).

Thanks. I'll give that a shot, I was using an already existing pilot file for testing.

Which makes me wonder, what is the best way for testing things like that out... it takes a while to build up enough of a combat rating so that domination works... If I had to create a new pilot file every time I made a new resource, that doesn't lend itself to incremental testing very handily...
