    • Darn Fargin EVO Bits >:(

I have finished writing in the entire missions for FOTVE, and when I went to play the last several missions, I find out that the refusal bits work jack squat.

      Offering bit:
      Set bit: 256
      Clear bit: 262

      Refusal bit:
      Set bit: 262

      Completion bit:
      Set bit: 263

So umm help and stuff on figuring why it won't work and how to get it to actually work and stuff. I want to avoid having to create one of those darn invisible missions and stuff.

I'm using MissionComputer to do the expansion plug-in and Pilot File Editor 3 just to test the variables.

    • Could be wrong on this one, but aren't there only 255 mission bits in EVO? Or am I totally off on that one?

    • Yes, you're wrong. The game constraints allows a maximum of 512 bits ranging from 0 to 511, if you open Override Data 1, you'll see that the "Pay Fine" mission uses "511" I believe.

    • Wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't work. Anything to do with failing missions in EVO doesn't work either.

    • Actually, the failing bits do work, if you frequent the Override boards, you'll hear sometimes people complaining that they fail to rescue Anna Balashova or failed to rescue the Voinian defector and that in either of these cases, they cannot play those same mission again. But these failing bits have nothing to do with the current mission I'm having problems with. I didn't use the fail bit attribute field.

    • Oh, maybe the failbits do work. But FailTexts, Remove prepaid outfit item on mission FAILURE or abort, and I think something else don't work. At least, I've never got them to work.

    • Well, due to saying "To Hell with the ****ing refusal and accepted bits", I have decided to just change some of the attributes on a couple of mission without having to create a mission patch just to make it work. This time when a player finishes a particular mission, the completion text will tell them to either go to this place for this one mission, or go there for that alternative mission, both which will be available at the sametime. In any case, I am right now adding in minor extra stuff for FOTVE before making final trial runs. Once I have done that, I will hopefully and soon, start recruiting beta testers. So wish me luck and stuff.

    • In my attempt to squash out the bug, I came across a problem. One of the missions, I have set a scenario where a player has to rescue people from a station before it is destroyed to be taken to a planet. Now I've set up the bits so either way, if the player fails or succeeds, the result will be the that the station is destroyed anyways. But, the only difference, is that the end text message is different.

When I went to replay that mission and force to fail the mission deliberately, the fail text would not appear. I've tried alot of things to make it show up and it didn't work. Then I suspected something, I rigged the pilot file so that I play EVO's stock missions that had alternate failing endings (i.e. Anna Balashova, Stop Zidagar Photography, etc.) It turns out neither of their fail text actually shows up. Can someone tell me wtf is going on with this?

    • Yup, it's like I said. I'm not sure, but I think this bug only came out with EVO 1.0.2.

    • Well, I guess that solves the mystery of the phenomenal failure bits to fail, or failiing fail bits, umm err something you nodamene.
