What is this 'Retribution'? What is it about? Retribution is a plug-in for Escape Velocity: Nova, being developed under the auspices of (url="http://"http://www.zhouj.net/Forum")AP^3 Productions(/url). Following is a portion of the Original Promotional Summary:
Quote
From a shaky and uncertain start, the brave explorers of the Starbound Project forged humanitys path towards the unexplored stars beyond Sol. Braving unknown conditions beyond the scope of human understanding: sensors interference that left many vessels eternally stranded, perilous asteroid fields and uncharted worlds, mankind learned- slowly, painfully, but surely. Early explorers marveled at the beauty of lush, fecund planets filled with alien life-forms and the harsh majesty of rocky desert vistas and pink skies alike, establishing colonies on worlds good and bad, colonies that would develop into worlds of their own accord and renown.
Technology advanced. Interstellar travel moved from the bleeding edge of human experience to something that people were now becoming used to- an uncomfortable and wondrous ease, but an ease nonetheless. Commerce and trade sprang up between blooming colonies, enterprising souls sought their fortune among humanitys many new worlds, and expeditions seeded an ever-increasing number of planets with human presence. Yet, as humanity grew more confident, the evils of mankind followed him into space.
The Outer Worlds and the Core Worlds pulled apart and became antagonistic. The Enaratolian Worlds, far to the east of Sol, withdrew into isolationism. Fledgling human exploration and settlement had grown into the beginnings of an era of interstellar nations: the resplendent Free Nations of Sol, the sinister Neo-Socialist Enlightenment, and the distrusting Enaratolian Confederation- all host to billions who now called space and alien worlds their home and Earth simply another world orbiting a yellow star.
Yet humanity was not alone. The Naztain came, sudden and terrible. The retaliation of the Enlightenment was even more horrible: although the Naztain fleets penetrated within striking reach of Earth itself, the adversary was pushed back. The Enlightenment proceeded to end the war and ensure the sudden disappearance of the alien enemy in such a manner that none would dare oppose its military might, not human nor alien. There was no peace, though: Enlightenment forces plunged the Free Nations of Sol and the Enaratolian Confederation into turmoil shortly after the conclusion of the Naztain War.
A period of darkness, suspicion, and hostility has descended upon humanity. Today, the Enlightenment exists, a ring of systems encircling the Free Nations of Sol and touching the Enaratolian Confederation at its extreme eastern boundary. Their unseen leaders plot the arcane path of the Enlightenment- captains of a vessel following a map too horrible for human comprehension. The Free Nations of Sol watches anxiously as news of terrible happenings trickles across the tightly-sealed Enlightenment-Free Nations border. As for the Confederation, it lies eying both Polaris and Sol with growing suspicion and resentment.
Thank you very much for your attention, and have a nice day.
