I am positive that this has been covered somewhere but I couldn't find it at all- and I'm certain that I am missing it in the Nova bible- but how do you match up a picture for an outfit in the Outfitters screen? I keep trying with my 'plot of land' outfit but it keeps saying 'no picture avalible'. What am I missing?

Plus Nova will crash in the outfitters' screen if you try to buy an outfit from a plugin while that plugin is open in Mission Computer. Probably really common sense but I thought that I'd pass that along, took me literally 17 times untill I realized that I'd forgotten to close it!

It's not documented in the Nova Bible, but you can easily tell this from the data files (lock them before, but you should try to see how things are done in the data files if you want to know something), the ID if the PICT resource for an outfit is somethin'+idx of outfit (idx of outfit = ID of oütf-128). Can't tell you right now, stuck on a school PC.

According to NOVA Graphics 1; the pict ID of the outfit is the resource ID of the outfit + 6000.

BTW- Who needs to lock data files? I edit the data files (occasionally), and there are no problems with my game... Especially if you're just looking, you don't need to change anything, and it isn't easy to accidentally change something.

you have to take the ID of the outfit + 128 + 6000 for the pic Id
and ID +128 + 3000 for the description

ResEdit has bad habits, which include automatically saving changes when you work on it. Plus with NovaTools you can have some bad surprises: if you open the pulldown menu in the dësc resource for the wildcards just to see them, even if you don't select anything it puts the first one. Plus it may decide to modify the structure of the resource file itself, making it contain the same resources but making it fail the checksum if Nova is unregistered (I wanted to spy the data files before I registered).

SpaceJunkie, are you sure it's not ID-128+3000 and ID-128+6000, so that it simply begins at 3000 and 6000? (if you're annoyed by the fact IDs begin at 128, IDs 0 to 127 are reserved by the system, or something like that, read my topic "limitations of the resource file")
