    • A simple plug-in I want to make, need help though.


      This will be my 1st plug. single hand clapping

      And this is the help i need...

      ~What programs do i need?
      ~And is this possile... All i wanna do is make an outfit that lets you fire all your secondary weapons at teh same time, and to give the Rebel Destoyer, Leviathan thruster glows. Thanks in advance.

      Dont beleave Zaku. The first one (all secondary ones fireing) is not possable without an engine change (NOT going to happen)

      Second, Very easy, just open up the Rebel Destroyer SHAN and the Leviathan SHAN, copy all the glow specs from the leviathan into the glow img spot of the Reb Destroyer.

      This will give you the Rebel Destroyer engine glows appearing far behind the actual ship, you know. And I think the Destroyer uses fewer frames for its rotation thingy than the Leviathan does. But whatever.

    • The problem might be solved by changing the position of the glow.

      I think this would be really hard to do, you'd have to run the rled/rle8 though DERle (or however u spell it, its one of the w00tware tools) and then reposition all the glow sprites manually in photoshop. But it could be done, though it would take a while.

      Seriously though, you might be able to make a long, complicated, weapony thing to solve your "fire all at once" bit. I think you'd need to make copies of all the secondaries, somehow link them, and check the box for all weapons fireing. But come to think of it, I don't know how that would work, so it'd be rediculously difficult.

      Note to Zaku: I've made hundreds of plugs, most wihin an hour, and all for free. It does not take money to make a plug, and it does not nessecarily take time. Most of my plugs were for my own amusement and thus required no graphics, descs, or any other "fluf" that usually slows down the development process. Also, please don't give advice if you don't know what you are doing yourself.

    • Well, you could just make copies of the secondary weapons all primary, have a bunch of crons to swap them in when you have the outfit, and even have crons to swap them out agin when you sell the outfit. The only problem with this is that there are a whole lot of secondary weapons, so you'd need to make a lot of crons and duplicate weapons. I don't think it would be too bad with ConText/ResStore, though. The effect might not be desirable, however: sometimes you don't really want to be blasting that Viper with EMP torpedoes. 😛

    • Actually, TheRedeemer, there is a way (similar to Croikle's, although he forgot to take into account the fact that you have to know how many of the outfit AS WELL AS the fact that it can't be done without more available resources), but it's impossible to do due to engine constraints of how many resources you can have. Then again, I suppose that would mean it would require an engine modification to allow more cröns and o¨tfs. And it would have to use SpacePirate's idea for how to check for multiple outfits on far too massive a scale. And even if it were possible, it wouldn't be worth it. The amount of work would rival that of a small TC.

    • Why not just use a cron with recursive entrance? The initial condition reqs. that you have one of the enabler outfits and one (or more) of the outf to be replaced. onEnter, it deletes one of the replaced outfs and adds one of the replacing ones. I haven't ever used recursive entrance/exit, but it seems from the Bible that this should work.
      (edit) Now that I think of it, you could do in-flight activation by aborting missions, except that it wouldn't switch until you advanced one day, if you do it with crons. If you just had some special weapons with this ability, though, you could have an "Activate Summer Bloom" mission that would swap in the modified version onAbort. It would also start a "Deactivate Summer Bloom" mission that would swap them back onAbort, restart the activating mission, and so on. This could actually be quite useful, since AI ships can use all of their secondary weapons at once, and it's really annoying when you're Vell-os. (/edit)
