I wnat to be able to edit Nova like EV and EVO using EV-Edit. I know it has a different kind of game engine or something, but I want to know what to use to get ship sprites or stats changed... can anyone help?

I use Novatools and ResEdit.

I'm confused by your question, it looks to me like all the sprites and stats are different in Nova. It is a different game after all.
Do you mean how sprites and stats are stored in plug-in/data files?
If so, say so, you'll get much help then.

Well for EV and EVO you go into EV-Edit and go to ships and all the stats are right there - cost, sheilds, etc. And also for sprites (little rotating ships and their masks), what do i use to cahnge and view all of those things in plugins OR regular data files.

Please, for the love of all things plug-in, don't use EV-Edit. Especially for an EV Nova plug.

If you want to edit EV Nova plug-ins, use NovaTools or MissionComputer.

Well, the thing is, EV-Edit is the buggiest software I've ever seen (but I admit I never played BattleCruiser 3000 or used WinME), never use it (and it won't work with Nova). The thing is, once you've installed NovaTools and opened your plug with Resedit, instead of going to ship you double-click the nova icon with "shïp" underneath. There, you have a list of resources which are actually the different ships. Double-click on one, and you should have a somewhat user-friendly ships editor. You should be familiar with Resedit to better use it and not make mistakes, but alas I don't know of any web tutorial to point you to as I learned everything myself (especially the "work on copies of files!")

I had a relatively high rate of success with EV-Edit, and have never tried anything else, so I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

Actually, there were one or two versions of EV-Edit that were relatively bug-free, although they took something like two minutes to load and couldn't use any of the new features from EVO. I made quite a few things that worked using EV-Edit. Still, Nova Tools has EV-Edit licked (although it isn't exactly bug-free itself) and I would never again use anything but ResEdit or Nova Tools to make/edit plugins.
