    • Nova-negating plug for TCs?

I somehow got the idea in my head that Nova loads plugins in alphabetical order.

Is there a plug available that essentially negates everything in Nova----makes all systs invisible, etc?

Because such a plug could simply be loaded by Nova first, and then a TC loaded on top of that.......

Or am I completely wrong on how Nova handled plugs?

      ------------------

    • IF you want to negate everything, just throw your plug into "Nova Files", and make sure you save the originals.

    • If you have multiple resources of the same Res ID and Res Type in different files, Nova will use the one in the file with the higher name (z > a, etc.). The same applies to files in the plugin folder, Nova will use the resources from the file with the larger name. Resource IDs in the Plug-ins folder will always replace those in the Files folder.

The best thing in your case would be to download a file that contains the minimum files required to load Nova, and have that be the first-loaded file, and have the TC files be loaded after that. Then, just put the TC files and the Minimums file in the Nova Files folder.

I have a bare basics file uploaded (url="http://"http://evula.org/infernostudios/downloads/EV_Basics.zip")here(/url).

    • Thanks, that should help for testing.

      ------------------

    • OK, tried it. Something's wrong, because Nova unexpected quit before it fully loaded.

      ------------------

    • Problem partially solved by using all the normal Nova files except Nova Data 2.

I still think a Nova-negating plug would be a big hit, though.

      ------------------

    • I threw a few of those together for working on my TC. I just exported the datafile to a spreadsheet, entered b1 &!b1 into the availability for one of the systems and used excell to fill that in for all of them. Did similar thing for missions making them all 0% chance, and so on, junks (making them all bought and sold nowhere... etc.

    • Lindley, do you have a log? It didn't do that for me...

    • No log at the moment...how would I generate one?

I'm on Panther. And now that I think about it, I don't think I'm on the latest version of EVN, so that could be it.

Just make a file in TextEdit, and save it as "pilotlog.txt" as a text file in the same folder as Nova.

    • I think the problem might be an interaction between my plug and the above. It starts up fine without my TC in the Plugins folder, but not with.

I'll post the pilot log shortly....

      ------------------

    • You actually don't need the pilotlog, but instead need a debug log.

That is created by very much the same process, but name the blank text file debuglog.txt instead.

This will display everything that occurs when it is loading the files. It makes it quick and easy to spot the problem.

      ------------------

    • Well, I'll do that too.

Hey, wait a sec. I'm currently using some of Nova's default planet spins, because I haven't found an easy way to make my own planets yet (or someone who can do that). Could that be the issue?

      ------------------

    • Sometimes I find myself asking why Ambrosia just didn't put a blank pilotlog.txt into the nova installion, so it gets put in the Nova folder right from jump.
