I want to know how to make plug-ins. I have the EV Nova Bible and the registered versian of EVONE although there is something wrong with EVONE.
After I start EVONE up and select the EV Nova section & click TMPL and select something a notice comes up and my computer freezes (I have a Macintosh versian 9.1).
Thankyou!

Perhaps someone has misinformed you: EVONE is not the only editor out there. There is also:
-
(url="http://"http://w00tware.ev-nova.net/")w00tware(/url), hosting:
-
NovaTools (editors for ResEdit)
-
EnRle/DeRle (rlëe8/D encoder/decoder)
-
Mish/Mash (dësc importer/exporter)
-
ConText/ResStore (spreadsheet importer/exporter)
-
BlitZen (PICT resource stuff)
-
NovaTools Wordlist (spell checker for NovaTools)
-
m2s, p2s, & px2s (converters for Quicktime movies to PICT sprites, image files in folders to PICT sprites, and PICS files to PICT sprites)
-
Duped (utility to find multiple occurences of resources across different files)
(The following are not made by w00tware.)
-
(url="http://"http://davidarthur.evula.net/mc.php")MissionComputer(/url)
-
The templates (located in your Documentation folder; not recommended, but I thought I'd include it for completeness)
There ya go.

Thankyou!Interesting. What do you mean you click TMPL? Are you trying to edit one of the TMPL resources? Also, have you configured the last three tabs of EVONE preferences so that the game data files are being loaded?

EDIT: duh, HTML handles nested lists, but the UBB refuses to convert nested (list) tags.
Indeed, the templates are not for you unless you have spent the last ten years on command-line environments. And even then you may want to enjoy a more user-friendly way to edit.

Welcome to the boards. I guess this is my only tip
Don't try to just "read" the Bible. Take it one section at a time. Find a practical use for each rescource, and try it out, one by one, with the bible up with you. Eventually, it will just become second nature.
Good luck!

Zacha: Well, I have made nova plugs using the templates. Its just really hard. There are a few cases where you have to though (apparently, novatools has a bug in the junk editor and doesnt save one of the fields (atleast according to rumor), and the weap editor crashes emulated macs)
For all normal puroposes, you DONT need to use templates though.
I reccomend Novatools on a mac, and EVNEW on a PC.
I agree with what lobf said about the Bible, yeah, Dont try to read it like a novel. Read it like you would a manual (well, if anyone actually read manuals - most dont), because thats sort of what it is.

**This is great advice. Listen (or read i should say) to it and use it. The nova bible is a great tool but only if you use the parts you need imediatly and then use it over and over. =D
