      I am a newbie trying to create ships in EVNEW i thought making a hyperoid ship available to download would be fun but instead it is jamming up. I was wondering if someone could make a hyperoid plug so you can buy a hyperoid escort da da for me so i may learn from it? If you could then send the finished plug to hawkeyejosh@hotmail.com.

      Hmmm. Most of us here would rather not make plugins just for others to use as demos, but i think a similar plugin is available from the addons page somewhere.
      If you describe the problem you are having with making this plug in greater detail we would be happy to help out. Making a plug that makes the hyperoid available for purchase and hire isnt too complicated a task - now, if you are making a new hyperoid ship (ie, one that uses a resource id not used in the stock scenario), you need to also copy the hyperoid shan - failing to do so might result in the "jamming up" you mentioned (which i assume means "crashing").

    • The simplest way to make the ship available for purchase is to open the Hyperoid shďp resource and change the following fields:

      Change Tech to 0 (this makes it available anywhere on basis of tech level)
      Change Buy Random and Hire Random to 100. (this makes the ship avaiable 100% of the time.)

      I hope thats useful.

      Er, copy+paste it into a new plugin and then make those changes. Never edit the datafiles directly, especially if you dont have a backup.

    • Sure thanks for that! Would i have to make a price for it aswell? And a couple a descriptions. I am a newb so what is a shan? Do i just copy and past the hyperoid files into a new plug? By the way Jamming is the word i use for crashing. Is making a ship available for purchase that easy?

    • I have finished making the plug for hyperoids. Took about 3 minutes, thanks to you guys but i cannot find out how to make the ship allow to buy extra guns! I have changed its mass and cargo so it has plenty but when i go to buy weapons it wont let me buy them! How can i make a hyperoid ship powerful with only a solar lance.(no offence hyperoid lovers)
      If you no how to do it please tell me.

      It is actually bit 1 on EVNEW but thanks for getting me to that. I have completed the plug-in and am cruising in a hyperoid with 5 fusion pulse cannons a 100mm railgun and a solar lance. Have to change it so you cannot buy more than 3 guns on it. Perhaps 1 turret...

      While i am here does anyone no why the heart of gold plug in closes the game down when i try jumping to ursa minor???

      In the shďp resource, there are two fields to specify the maximum Turrets and Guns. While you use EVNEW, and I have no idea how they are called there, they should be something along the lines of "Max Guns" and "Max Turrets".

      To answer a former question of yours, a shän resource contains all of the animation and sprite data for the shďp resource ( SH ip AN imation).

      Additionally, I'd suggest you read up on the section about ships in the Nova Bible. There are many cool things you can change in ship resources- play around with them a bit! 🙂

    • Yes, play around... It's the best (and most fun) way to begin plug-in designing. First you make your alien preferred odd ship available, then you tweak it, then you make it über-powerful, then you give it odd modifications (ultra-light or ultra-heavy, insane length only to realise it's unused in any calculation, insane crew figure to experience some capture formula overflow, etc...), then you decide to modify weapons as well, then you modify... and then you end up, after 3 years, painfully creating a TC. So give up now, it's dangerous and can get you very far! 😉

    • I hate to admit that I am on that very path -- even starting out with a Hyperioid mod (an über-powerful one, of course, with insanely large numbers of crew). But nazgul_king brought up something else - in EVN 1.0.6 for the PC, the original Heart of Gold plug crashes the game when you try to jump to Ursa Minor. I have yet to load the newest version, but does anyone know if it will work?
