    • Mission Computer galaxy editor problems

I'm using Mission Computer, the newest version, and started to place some systems using the Galaxy/Map editor thing.

But I have a problem, I can place systems fine in the middle of the map editor, close to the green crosshair, and when I press Apply, I can still see them, but If I Place any systems further away, when I press apply I cannot see them. Their still there, but I cant see them, I can just see black.

Does this happen to anyone else? Is it a Known issue, or is it just me?

      Heres a Picture:

    • Are you referring to the syst editor? If so, what you're placing are actually spob resources (planets).

I've used the editor a bit and haven't experienced the problem you describe.

No, I'm talking about the Galaxy/Map editor, where you place the systems on a Map, then connect them up with hyperlinks. I'd post an annotated screenshot explaining the problem but sadly I have no hosting.

    • I have had this problem too. I found that if you add more memory (usually around 30mb RAM) than it works properly. Be warned it needs large chunks, not the usualy 5mb increases to make it work. My version runs with 90mbs RAM and still encounters the problem. Don't ask why, it just does.

Ahh, that's probably the problem then. I'll give it some more memory and try it again.
      Thanks for the help.

    • whoa. I must be using an old version... Mine has no galaxy editor...

    • I just found out now that MissionComputer has a galaxy editor... However, since I'm in os X, I can't up the memory, and it has that bug. Any solutions?

    • YEa I have the same problem. We just have to wait for DA I guess.

Then be happy. There was not a single bug in any bit of mc before the galaxy editor. I think it would have been better if he had released the galaxy editor seperately as it brought a problem with saving along with it as well. It is a real shame because otherwise there isn't a single thing wrong with the program.

The newest version has, hopefully, fixed that save problem. It's available from his website and the ASW Add-Ons page and seems to have done the trick.

It has not, unfortunately, fixed the galaxy-display problem.

So apart from buying EVONE and using the lovely Galaxy editor on that, Is my only other option to do it with Novatools?

    • Or do what I did for my first SFA map, if you've got fewer than 1024 systems in it, which was map out the galaxy using EVO Developer's Map (which is easier to use than any of the Nova mapping programs), then convert the file to a spreadsheet using ConText, re-map the data to conform with the Nova fields rather than the EVO fields, then reconvert using ResStore -- or use SpacePirate's tool that comes with EVONE to convert your EVO map to Nova (if you want to pay for it, that is).

I think I'll do that, even though it's a lot more complicated then I had originally planned. At least I've only got about 200 systems to do. Not really much compared to the SFA map!

Thanks for the Advice, hopefully DA will get this problem fixed in the next version of Mission computer.
