    • How are systems/spob's

      coordinates arrived at?

    • Spobs are pixels from the center of the system.
I dont know what units systems are in - I just do them by putting in coords based on the other systems that exist, and then tweaking it till they look right. I do know that in the stock scenario, Sol is 0,0, but you could have figured that much out yourself. More info on this will propably be posted into this topic by people who know: (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/postdisplay.cgi?forum=Forum9&topic;=004848")http://www.AmbrosiaS...m9&topic=004848(/url)

    • I used to go by trial and error myself too, but that was always for small EV plug-ins. For bigger projects, it's not a very practical solution - even with graphical editors like MissionComputer and EVONE, you'll end up wasting a lot of time if you haven't planned such details beforehand.

    • According to the nebu section of the Bible, nebula coordinates and sizes are in terms of pixels in the normal zoom level (level 4 of 7). It doesn't specifically say anything about syst coordinates, but I assume that they're the same.

    • Yes, system locations are in pixels relative to the center (0,0). Think about the coordinate plane (you know, the stuff in eighth grade math books...). That's exactly how they're measured.

    • You mean the Cartesian coordinate system? It's not exactly like that. I d/l'ed "EV Nova Reference" and compared the coordinates of Nesre Primus, Tichel, Kerella and Nesre Secundus to that of Sol. I found out that, like regular Cartesian coordinates, x is positive to the right of 0, and negative to the left. Unlike regular Cartesian coordinates, y is positive downwards and is negative upwards. Same goes for spob placement. I had no idea that the coordinates were in pixels, though. I had wondered why some coordinates were in the thousands (1400, -1700...).

What do you mean by '8th grade math book?' Pre-algebra? Algebra I? Or maybe even Algebra II? 😄

Seriously, it's probably easier to edit systems and spobs in a graphical editor like the one EVONE has. If you hand-code the systems, you must also remember to put in links; dragging a line between 2 dots (or however it's done) is preferable to looking up 2 system, opening one resource, typing in the ID of the other system into the links field...

      Truly a timeless question.

    • UE: Pre-Algebra. Algebra I is 9th grade, Algebra II is either 11th or 10th, depending on your level (regular, advanced, or GEM). Of course, it may also vary by area.

Other Person: No, if negative is up, that's not the system I'm referring to. Positive X coordinates are to the right of (0,0), negative are to the left; Y coordinates are up if positive and down if negative. Both are measured in pixels. Everything on the computer that has to do with graphics is pixels. Things like inches are for convenience.
