    • [EVO] Reputation and governments

I am trying to understand why certain government ships attack you in certain systems. The situation I am thinking about is where I had a high reputation with one government (call it the Empire) and no reputation to speak of with its enemy (call it the Rebels). In an Empire system where I had a high legal status I was attacked by Rebel ships. Why did this happen? I am interested in specific mechanics of legal status and how it works. The high reputation came from destroying pirates nearby, not from destroying Rebels.

I am happy to offer more details about the specifics of the situation but am really interested in general principles and what determines who likes you and who doesn't. For example, even though missions affect your legal status with a 'government' there is nowhere that I know where that information is actually stored (it's just stored as your legal status at all government systems).

      Thanks

    • Simple. If you have a good reputation with the Rebel's enemies, you will be marked as their enemy when in enemy territory.

    • Even if you have a good reputation with the Rebels as well? That doesn't seem right...

Just to clarify: Are you saying that if you are an Upstanding Citizen in all systems (let's say it's due to vigorous pirate destruction) then whoever is the enemy of the current system's government will attack you?

...it just seems wrong (I'm not saying that it's not like that - just that I have a hard time accepting it)

Regardless, thanks for the prompt answer.
