    • Why can some picts not be opened on win. photoshop?

Some picts open no problem. Other picts, however, say there are not valid picts. These ones still open just fine on a mac, but not on my pc. Why is this? How can they be converted without using any apps that dont run on 7.5.3?
Trying to work some photoshop-magic on some EVO era outfit pics (Some of the Universal Wolf graphics from Dreamwave), but the blasted things wont open on PC.
      Thanks

    • mmm, for the files that you can't open on Win, try resaving those files on Mac to a different format. TIFF or JPG perhaps. Tedious yes. I don't have any other ideas though. Sounds like some of those pics have something embedded in the file from the Mac (developers) that Windows can't read. Just the other day I had images that couldn't be opened in Preview (even though they were just jpegs) because the psd extention was thrown on there.

    • Well the images you speak of are PICT files , and if I recall correctly , its a mac only format , however photoshop should be able to handle them , what I always do is copy them in to memory and then paste em in a new photoshop document.

    • PICT is an old Mac QuickDraw format that can contain both pixel and vector data. It might be that some vector data is added, and I don't think PS can handle that.

    • Use QT Picture Viewer to save them into a new format. Easy, and it should solve your problem,

    • Thanks. Where can I download that program? A quick google search didnt produce any definative results.

    • It is part of the basic time install, if you have quicktime, you should have it, check your main QT folder. If you can't find it there, then just download it from Apple's website.

    • Got it. But the images still wont open. Says a suitable graphics importer could not be found.
Theres gotta be some way to open them on a pc? A file that is known to have this behavior are the pics in the Wildfire Rocket by Universal Wolf on Dreamwave: (url="http://"http://dreamwave.evula.net/universal_wolf/rockets_missiles/WildfireRocket.sit")http://dreamwave.evu...dfireRocket.sit(/url)

    • I have no trouble opening them, though they do seem to store the pict info in a resource as well as in the main file, if you need these specifically, I can convert them and mail 'em to you, perhaps try redownloading quicktime and doing a full install, I don't know what to say.

    • Its prolly the pict resource thing thats causing the problem.
I can convert them myself, its just really annoying - I have the cool photoshop addons for high wuality enlarging, but the files can only be opened on my mac, which doesnt havethe PShop plugs.
