    • Mission bit questions.

I am planning to make a pluggin that uses mission bits, but i don't have an easy way of seeing what bits are used. I see that many ships set 8888 when purchaced (what is the significance of it?) and bit 424 seems to have some special significance (what is it) as well.
What mission bit ranges are known unused by EV:N? Cancel this - found the answer.
What is the meaning of bits 8888 and 424? What other bits should someone making a plug keep in mind?

    • BitsDescCommodities from the Add Ons page is the easiest way to know what's used and what's not - though it seems you may have just found this. It's a little outdated but it's still a great resource. A new version is on the way. b8888 just tells the engine you exchanged ships. b424 means you're in the Vell-os string (if I remember right) which restricts many outfits and obviously strings. If you have OS X then downloading Mission Viewer, also from the Add Ons page, is a great way to look up specific bits and see exactly what missions they affect.

    • Yeah, the bitsdesccommonidies was what i found on my own.
Still not crystal clear on 8888. Does it just mean your in a ship other than the one you started with, or does it get reser by other events in the game?
      B424 makes sense.
Mission viewer would be awesome (but all i have is OS 7.5 running on an emulator).
      Thanks
