    • Oh no, not again; Who's manning the Guns?

In Nova 1.0.4, destroyed stellars continued to fire their weapons at their enemies.

In Nova 1.0.6, armed stellars don't seem to shot at anybody!

To check and see if it was a mistake on my part, I used a test plug to place frequent pirates in the Nesre Primus system, and watched to see if Spacedock IV, the station there, responded. The stardocks always used to fire at pirates and rebels.

Now, they don't seem to fire at either.

I checked the resource flags, and none of the 'Flags2' are set; it can't be the "Only fire when provoked" function.

      What's going on here?

    • I don't have an answer, but I have wondered about this. I've been having trouble getting some very, very hostile and xenophobic stellars to shoot at anybody. I hadn't linked it to the version of Nova, though- but they did used to shoot at some people.

    • i really don't know, and i spend alot of time playing around with the planets weapons. heck, i even made a speacil planet in the Obatta system that destroys any ship that goes in there, except me. and i even incresed ship's probabilitys for entering the system. i use version 1.0.3, though. i've never had a problem with anyone of it.

    • I've got quite a few stellars who fire at enemy ships in 1.0.6 in SFA -- there doesn't seem to be any trouble. I have no idea what's wrong here, but I could whip you up a quick plug that gives an example of one of my systems that has no difficulty for reference purposes if you'd like (it wouldn't be playable by a longshot -- it'd only have the s˙st, spöb, and gövt resource for that particular spöb to show you one that's working).

    • But if it's interfering with the stock Nova scenario, isn't it a bug? I suppose that a fix for the stock scenario could be programed, if UncleTwitchy's refrence dosen't require too many changes.

A problem with destroyed spöbs continuing to fire was fixed during Nova 1.0.5. If this new problem started happening then, it might imply that one fix cropped up a different bug. I don't happen to have 1.0.5. on my machine right now; does anyone else, who's willing to check?

As of right now, I've observed only Stardock IV in the Nesre Primus system, in near 1.0.6 conditions - with only a test plug that increased the chances of Pirates dramatically. If I find the time, (and the patience) I'll check Auroran and Polaris stations, without any plug-ins.

Edit: Results so far: Does it shoot at passing enemies?
      Stardock I: Fail
      Stardock II: Fail
      Stardock III: Fail
      Stardock IV: Fail
      Rebel II: Pass
      Heraan LP - 'Heraan': Pass
      Dominance (Heraan Cov): Fail
      Nil'a He: Fail
      Nil'a Ya: Fail

Query: what're the stations in question marked to do? What is an "enemy", in this case?

      Dave

    • an enemy to a station in question, is whoever is an enemy to the goverment that the station is a part of.

    • Not really -- from the behavior I've seen, it's whoever is an enemy to the gövt of the s˙st, not the spöb.

The more I've been thinking about it, Eugene, the more I realize you're right -- sending what I was going to send you that works the way it should wouldn't really help, considering it's referencing totally different gövts.

    • thats what i was trying to say, saldly i could not come up with a good way to say it. here we go:

Each spob has a specific goverment(you can have an arouran stellar in Fed space you it edit it). what every the system's goverment is, is tied to the stellar. piss of the people in the system, the goverment sees it, and the stellar tries to shoot you down.

      there we go.
