While I agree with many who feel that Nova is a superb piece of work, EV, for me, is like that first love you never get over. I love the EV universe, the ships, etc. Because of this, I have used the EV to EVO ports and am a strong proponent of the EV and EVO ports for EVN.
One of the more frustrating aspects of using these ports, however, is that the player must start a new pilot file because the data in each version of the game's pilot files is different. To facilitate EV lovers such as myself, I have made a utility that takes either EV or EVO pilot files, adds the necessary new data and changes the encryption method so they work with EVN. Of course, without ports, this utility is useless.
Still, there are ports in progress. The only ones I know of that are available to the public are by SpacePirate. They are available at (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/infernostudios/ept/")http://www.evula.org...rnostudios/ept/(/url)
Having said all that, I'm looking for beta testers of my utility which is available at (url="http://"http://hellskitchen.org/~seant/EV/PilotConvert/pilotConverter2.0b.sit.hqx")http://hellskitchen....ter2.0b.sit.hqx(/url) . To use it, you will, of course, need either the EV or EVO port for Nova.
People that choose to test the utility can either contact me directly at seant@hellskitchen.org or post comments/bugs here.
Cavats: the utility does not yet support drag and drop and the ReadMe is not a lucid as I would like it to be.
(just a fyi: an older, slower version that converts EV pilots to EVO pilots is at (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl/pilotConverter.sit.hqx?path=evo/utilities&file;=pilotConverter.sit.hqx)")http://www.ambrosias...ftp/dl-redirect .pl/pilotConverter.sit.hqx?path=evo/utilities&file;=pilotConverter.sit.hqx://http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/v...nverter.sit.hqx://http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/v...nverter.sit.hqx(/url))
