To make a long post short -- it works better with my current amount of sleep -- what editors are the PC people going to be able to use when making plug-ins? ARE there going to be editors? Will they be back-compatible with the Mac version?
It kinda takes the fun out of it if you can't build your own.

There will eventually be editors for Windows, though I don't think any are planned at the moment. Could be wrong. It's just a matter of demand though - which there will be plenty of and someone will step up to create something. Can't tell you for cross-platform compatability. Maybe down the road but I wouldn't hold your breath. Pilot files are iffy at this point. I think the only cross-platform definite at this point is registration codes. I believe the main problem lies with the resource fork in the Macs have it and Windows doesn't. But I know nothing else about the kind of stuff.

Currently, Jager and David Arthur have some ideas for plugin editors on PCs, but con't really implement anything until we see how the data is stored for the plugins on PCs (since it obviously won't be in a resource fork). Right now, the best option seems to be to use an emulator and resedit/novatools or one of the third party editors: Mission Computer or EVOne. Hope that helps clarify the situation

You know, if nothing comes out for the PC except for a program to transfer the plugs from mac to pc, you could see PC users making requests to Mac users for specific plugs. I think such a thing already exists around here where someone can request a specific plug and the other person will build it and make it available.
Though with my meager experience at making plugins, I'd charge!

Currently there is no way to make plugins on Windows, and as far as I know there is no official plan to make any. A program to convert Mac plugins to Windows ones is going to be avaliable.
If people want to reverse engineer the Windows plugin format, more power to you 
Though we'd need a Win to Mac converter, but I don't think that would be too hard. I believe pilot files are encrypted somehow...
