    • 2D/3D Graphics People Needed

      This is simply a recruitment thread. P-psycho and I are moving forward on a new TC and we need people skilled in both 2D artwork and 3D to do graphics for the plug. We want to do 3D graphics for the ships in-game, but have 2D artwork for the more static pictures, such as shipyard and outfit pics for a unique effect. Obviously, these are two very different skills, so if you can do only one or the other and are willing to work on a very "professional" development team, we are taking all volunteers.

      Who are you refering to? But other than that-

      Beautiful.

      Saturn, great, I'll toss it in now...

      Venus, great, but our plug has a few constraints- Venus is not like Venus now- Most of the planets are like that, too, unfortunately. E-mail me and I'll send you the plug outline and some more information on the website and whatnot.

      I was refering to you two, but I've only talked to P-Psycho.

      Basically the idea was that I wouldnt be part of a 'team' but I would occasionally work with graphics, (mainly planets) and if I come up with anything that looks really awsome, I would give it to you.

      I do not know how desprately you need skilled 2d and 3d people, so I dont know what kind of quality you'd expect. But if you think those were good I'll be ok.

      I made that Saturn really quickly, so I decided to do a better job since you decided to use it.

      Hmm...I can do 2D graphics, certain kinds are better...I can also sort of do 3D, but I am only just starting.

      I like your ideas.. especially the space colony asteriods. I've got some ideas too:

      Hyperdrives: When the game first starts, you have no fuel capacity and rely on hypergates to get around. Then you buy a hyperdrive outfit, which adds 4 jumps of fuel (but you can only have one). Better hyperdrives add more fuel and have better performance and features, like fuel regeneration, fast jumping, and multi-jumping. Higher-end ships would come with a hyperdrive installed.

      Breakdowns: You mentioned ships breaking down frequently, which I think could be accomplished on the players ship by making many outfits Non-Lethal Bombs.

      Shields: Many lower-end ships would not have the technology for shields factory-installed. You could buy shield generators for your ship and, like hyperdrives, better generators would be more expensive but give more capacity and faster recharge.

      I'm officially in as one of yoru graphics guys. I've already got a model for a basic hyperdrive, and I got some story ideas too.

      Great, Neon, I'll add you to the webpage and email you some more info.

      I like your ideas, but unfortunately we can't totally use some of them.

      In the plug, you NEED to be able to do normal jumps- the hyperspace gates are located at least one jump away from the planet in its orbit at Lagrange points L4 and L5. There is no way of moving between orbits other than through the hyperspace gates. However, upgraded standard propulsion engines are definately available. We are even doing different classes of outfits for this-bigger ships can get the same type of upgrade but it costs more, etc.

      Shields: already in the works. Every ship is assumed to have radiation shields, though.

      Sure, but I made that Saturn really quickly... Don't you think that the newer one puts it to shame?
      If I spend time I could do much better planets.

      And a question: What about sounds? I may be able to help with them (probably a lot more than with graphics)

      We do need sounds- all I have is a small collection I've grabbed from other games (including previous versions of EV). We'll take all you want to give us.
