Ok, what is everybody's favorite graphics program? When you post, include the name, cost, and what you think of it.

There are no true experts, only fools who believe they know everything. Believe me, I'm na expert on this.
If the point of this topic is asking what graphics program people recommend getting the I would direct you to the (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/ubb/search.cgi?action=intro&default;=9")search(/url) feature at the top right hand side of the page, as this question has been asked so many times before
Otherwise :
Strata 3D
Cost varies. There is a now discontinued free version which you can still download from (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/ewan")my site(/url). There are two versions out at the moment, Plus (Retail: $249.00, Academic: $199.00) and Pro (Retail: $695.00, Academic: $449.00). Plus is a feature disabled version of Pro but still very good value for money.
I like this program, its the one I started on, and the one I still use (mainly due to the fact that I am a student with no extra income to spend on new software. I intend to upgrade to Pro when I get my new G4 in the summer. For some examples of what it is capable of, see (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/ewan")my site(/url).

Do you mean 3D? 'Cause I think most people would name Photoshop somewhere in there otherwise. I think Photoshop is a given. Adobe Illustrator is a must for logo creation, I think, or at least I'm addicted to it.
For 3D:
Lightwave 7.5, $1250 (commercial) or $395 (educational). This program has a pretty tough learning curve, and the lack of iconic interfaces makes it fairly intimidating to 3D beginners. The renderer is beautiful and the basic package is extremely powerful. There is little you can't technically achieve with this program.

What Onyx said - Photoshop keeps the graphics world spinning if you are talking about a wider range other than 3D.
Otherwise, Cinema 4D and Lightwave. Both excellent programs that you can get at a decent academic price. Or if you're wanting to start off easy, get Strata or even Infini-D (if you can find it).

I like Bryce 5. I think it's listed at $169 on their (url="http://"http://www.corel.com")website(/url) right now. You can try it for 30 days or something like that too, so you know what you're getting before you buy it.

I believe the academic discounted version is $90. From what Weepul told me, I don't believe it has commercial restrictions either.

Why the heck can't you just run a search for 3D on this webboard? Someone asked what we're all using just like a couple weeks ago. Anyway, my votes go out to SoftImage/XSI, Lightwave, and (url="http://"http://www.povray.org")POV-Ray(/url).

Mostly because I can afford little else. Also it has great modelling capability. Not much else though. Bryce is great too.

I'm a big fan of ElectricImage's knife tools, a feature I have yet to find in any other 3D graphics program. That said, the fact that the modeler and the animator are two different apps made by two different groups of people is very annoying.
And because I'm too poor to afford anything over 2 dollars, I suppose Infini-D is my favorite 3D app. The interface is a joy to behold, and it's quite speedy on my computer.

Couldn't agree more. One reason I like Cinema 4D so much is because the interface is very similar to Infini-D...

Where did you get a free version of Infini-D?

No, there will be no first person EV game, for the same reason that there is no latex underwear for cattle.

I didn't, we've had Infini-D for over 6 years... sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I didn't buy it, anyway - my dad got it from a friend of ours.
