Hey all, i have been an EV fan since it has come out and i am just now going to give Development a shot. Both Me and my girlfriend love the game and she is constantly on my case about making a plugin for the game that will fit her style. So here i am about to embark onto a long journey of creating plug ins and add ons. So any help is VERY VERY welcome. I have browsed the guid files and such and have downloaded a few things. What i would like to ask is that people please give me some insight on what and what not to do. What programs i should use is somthing i hope everyone can help me out with. I have Res Edit but i don't know if there is some special verson to get or anything to add with it to use. Any and all help welcome. Thanks alot

5)Play about wiith a plugin that you download. I found that 50% of what I learnt was from reading the Bibles, and the other 50% was from saying 'That does that, I'll modify that and see what it does.'

Don't:
1)Muck about with the game data files. Although in essence the same thing as a Plug-In, it can muck-up your game if you do something wrong.

You just proved theories worked.

As long as you have NovaTools installed I still prefer it over EVONE and Mission Computer. The interface may not be as pretty but it's the only complete and bug free editor around for Nova right now.

Using Search on the boards will definetly help you when you need to find an answer, not to mention keep the regulars here happy. If you have a question on HOW to do something, chances are it's been asked and answered before. But don't be afraid to post when you run into trouble. After all, that's what we're all here for. And sometimes you'll have no idea what you did wrong.

Make sure you have a backup of the Nova Files folder (assuming you're using Nova). As careful as you try to be with not editing the Nova Data files, accidents do happen.

Other notes:
Plan ahead.
Keep a log of what control bits do what... actually, keep a log of everything - especially if you start doing larger plugs String additions and TCs.
Start small - think of something about the game that you'd like to change and edit that first - like the availability of Hellhounds. Then move on to bigger projects.
