I asked this incidentally in another thread, but I think it merits it's own thread-

Is there a program available that will let me print out, or at least generate a very large PICT, of the galactic map? Does anybody want to make one?

This is of interest to me because of the way our team works- I built a galaxy, but I had to do a whole lot of ab-libbing, meaning my mission scripter only knows about 10 of the systems, and doesn't really know how far apart everything is. And after trying to use Grab and make a map by hand using screenshots for about an hour, I decided that there MUST be an easier way to do this.

I considered rolling my own- but I don't really understand how templates work or how to discern the data field layout in memory from them, plus I know from experience it would take me a hell of a lot longer. Its been a long time since I've done real coding (this quarter at school will take care of that, though). ThorPrime, where are you?

(url="http://"http://members01.chello.se/warlordpontus/ev/evomap.html")EVO Developers Map(/url) has an 'export map to pict...' option that well export the whole map to a .pict file that would work perfectly for this. It even has nifty user-setable color displays for each system.

Please note that if you're using Nova, you'll have to change the file type and creator of the data file that contains your systems to an EVO datafile. (You won't be able to edit anything, but it well export the map to a picture file. And of course, always work on a back-up.)
