    • Boarding Ships


      Is there any way to make it possible to board a ship but make it impossible to capture said ship? I've looked through the Bible and can't find one. If you have 0 crew the ship is unboardable, but that's not what I want. 😕

      I'm trying to make a ship that might actually be a match for a player, but I don't want it to be a cheat plug so I want to make it so the player can't get it. Unfortunately, it would be really annoying to fight with some guy that you couldn't even loot when he nearly kills you. :frown:

      I thought 0 let you board but not capture, but I guess not. Since you dont want it available for the player, set to crew to something insane, like 1,000,000. The odds of their little ten/hundred/thousand man crews overthrowing a million is miniscule.

    • Well, maybe 0 does let you board but not capture, but according to the EVN Bible (which is the game I want this for, BTW, don't think I mentioned that) it says ships with 0 crew can't be boarded. And I tried setting insanely high crew numbers, but it maxes out at 16 thousand something. :frown:

      I thought it was 32767. Games having numbers like 255, 65535 are one number off to being perfect squares. 32767 is 6 numbers off from being a perfect square.

      The square root of 32761 is 181

      And I'm pretty sure mine was the 16K one. Maybe leaving room for negatives, too?
      (And it may be different on different computers, you learn that at least for Wintel programming 🙂

    • Oh, I just checked. I can do the 32K one, but it defaults to the 16K one when maxed out. 🙂

      But no one seems to know how to do what I asked. Does that mean it's not possible?

    • Setting the crew to 0 in EV Nova makes the ship uncapturable, but boardable. This is what was done for the Vell-os ships. However, I'm not sure about Override or Classic.

      That is when you are flying a 0 crew ship. You cannot board a 0 crew ship.
