    • Nova tools helps

You guys are probably think i'm stupid or something, but her it goes. I wanted to make a plug for nova and i got resedit and nova tools. I did everything the instructions said to do.

      "Installation:
      -------------

If ResEdit is not already installed, copy it onto your hard disk and start it up.

Then locate the ResEdit preferences file (in preferences in the system folder. Open the NovaTools.res file and copy/paste the resouces in it into the ResEdit preferences file.

Quit ResEdit and get info on it and allocate at least 6MB (much, much more if you are going to work on large sprite animation).

Run ResEdit again, and start editing Nova resources."

I did that and and everything looked the same and I thought that was normal because i never really messed with resedit. I continue read the doc that came with Nova Tools and it describes the menus and what not, then I realized that I didn't install right. I done everything from trashing the prefs. to deleting everything that was named "ResEdit" and then re-installing. I know I'm missing something obvious, so can you point me in the right direction by telling me what I did wrong and help me correct it. Thanks in Advance 🙂

P.S. Where it says "Open the NovaTools.res file and copy/paste the resouces in it into the ResEdit preferences file" I copied everything in that file to the pref. file. was I right in doing so, or just screwing up :frown:

    • Well, I just downloaded NovaTools and it worked fine for me. The thing you've probably been missing is that in the readme it says something about new menus. There aren't any. However, just open up any nova resource (like a plugin, or the data files) and open a ship resource or whatever you like. If you've made a plug or looked at the resources before you put in NovaTools you'll notice the difference. I'm posting this in your topic on the novas board as well in case you read that first.

    • Another possible reason you get nothing: Are you using Multiple Users under OS9?

If so, and if you are not using the owner account, you need to edit the resedit preferences file in Users:<your name>:Preferences rather than in System Folder:Preferences.
