      Can anyone recommend a free sound program that will let me create sounds from scratch? I tried Audacity but it would only let me edit premade sounds.

      Although its sound creation abilities are somewhat limited, I highly reccomend (url="http://"http://www.riccisoft.com/soundeffects/")SoundEffects 0.9.2(/url). The interface is quite intuitive, and although it's a small program, you can create some very interesting sounds with a little practice.
