Is there a way to switch the Main Window Designs?

For example, in game, if you are in the Vellos string, your window design changes.

Is this something that is programmed into the game, or can "we" change that?

If it can be changed, how?

I am making a plugin that changes a certain specific Auroran ship in several ways. I'd like to culminate those changes with a switch from Auroran to Federation window design.

    • If I get what you're saying, then the answer is probably yes.

I'm thinking you're talking about the interface. (ie, the windows that come up when you click on a button)

They're located in one of the Nova Titles, I believe, although they might be in the Nova Graphics. Anyway, there are alot of PICTs with the interface designs on em. You copy them into Photoshop or whatever and design it the way you want. (you must remember to keep the black fields black, otherwise bad things will happen)

    • You can edit the interface, but apart from the sidebar (which, as 1.0.1 shows, is customisable), there's only one interface, so you can't have it change based on where the player is in a mission string.

The main window sidebar changes according to the inherent government of a ship. Presumably, you can work your mission so it exchanges the player's ship for something that looks like an Auroran ship but is actually inherently a Federation ship. Of course, that inherent ID will also apply to NPC reactions...aka the Aurorans might start shooting at you.

I'd have to read the bible more carefully, but I think you can just create a new government with the alliances you want it to have and make your "Federation" sidebar the associated PICT.

I'm ok with the ID change. At the very beginning of the game, you can go to most(?) any area and everyone likes you. I've played the Auroran string through with a Starbridge (a Fed built ship). Playing an Argosy for other powers is no biggy 🙂

Was the Bible updated when 1.0.1 came out? I cannot find an updated copy.

EV Nova allows for a wider variety of inherent government settings to avoid these types of problems. Check the EV Nova Resource Bible for details.

Incidentally, so that it's clear, while the ability to have multiple sidebars wasn't used until EV Nova 1.0.1, it's been around since late alpha.

I went through the Bible, and found a ship setting that sets the government. I think instead of trying to create a mission that changes the Auroran Argosy to one with Fed parts and trying to change the screen, it would be far easier just to create a new ship.

I am now thinking it will be far easier (I'm getting a headache just trying to figure on how to create the mission thing anyway)
