I'm looking for a visual editor for EVO, a simple one kind of like EV-Edit, for the programmically inept (me). Does such a thing exist?

EV-Edit tries to simplify things too much, and that is why it fails. I've tried to take the middle road in (url="http://"http://davidarthur.evula.net/mc.php")MissionComputer(/url) (a resource editor for Escape Velocity and EV Override) so as to make it easy to use while still giving the user complete control without any risk of damaging their work.

Though not available right now, EVONE is under development by Arios SoftWare (see my sig for a link). EVONE will provide the best of both worlds - high level (you could say ev-edit - like) graphical editors and low-level (ResEdit - like) editors.

I do not believe the sole reason EV-Edit failed was its simplicity. Its simplicity would have been a godsend if it had actually done anything CORRECTLY and it had been stable enough to use.

Sure. It's called EV-Edit. The later versions of EV-Edit ( I believe 3 and later) are capable of editng EVO plugs. Whether using EV-Edit is a good idea is another question.
For systems and spobs, "EVO Developers' Map" is excellent, and for most other resourcers David Arthur's "Mission Computer" seems to work very well indeed.

Definitely - everything that could benefit in the slightest from a GUI editor will have one.
