    • You think it would be a hassle if we should have the Ambrosia people make seperate EV developments boards? What I mean is instead of just having this EV Developer's corner, you have 3, EV classic developer's corner, EV override developer's corner, and EV nova developer's corner. The reason I brought this up is because I've seen people get a little confused when they are browsing subjects that they want to look for and when they do find one in particular, they realize that it's for a different game or something. And most of the time when the person creates a new subject they hardly mention the name of the game they are referring to as if to assume that everybody knows which game they're referring to even though some topic titles are quite obvious.

So I thought that by separating the developer's corner into corresponding games, it would make the person browsing through subjects find things easier and efficiently.

So what do you think? You believe that this idea might work, or do you think that all this would just make things more complicated and it's hardly in demand anyways not to mention that in the first place the designers had it like this in the first place.

This is just something I was pondering at, let me know what you think k?

    • Hmmmm.

Since plug development for EV stopped a long time ago, and EVO is quickly dying, it probably won't be neccesary. All the plug-in ideas for the old games are posted on their respective boards anyway.

If it were to be implemented, a seperate board for EVN and EVO would be in order, not three.

Good idea, just not that practical.

    • I think it would be a little chaotic to have more than one Dev Corner. Right now everyone knows where to go to get Dev info, updates, help, etc, without having to go to too many forums. If they were split, things would get far more complicated, with many people more spread out. Development for any of the EVs includes many things that are either very similar or exactly alike. Graphics for one things is the same for EV/O while Nova graphics can be made in the same programs, just with more bits. Issues like PICTs vs. rlë*s come up, but other than that they are pretty much the same. What you propose is interesting and may solve some problems, it would cause more as well. It would be like splitting Just Tech into Just Mac OS 9, Just OS X, Just Unix/Linux, and Just Hardware. This forum is pretty low-traffic anyway, and splitting it up would probably kill it.

What you do say is important though, and serves as a reminder to us all to be specific about which game we are refering to when we discuss resources and the like. Prehaps people should include a topic header, like "Nova: Graphics issues", "Override: Oütf help!", or nothing if it applies to something in general. If that seems extreme, maybe just make a declaration about what game in the beginning of your post.

Your idea is interesting, but I feel it is unnessesary. The problems we have with communication have not yet reached any extreme justifying split Dev Corners.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that when I posted it, that if we can't split up the dev boards then at least it should be a courtesy that people should list the name of the game they're referring to in their topic headline so as to make it easier on everybody.

If it's something universal, it's fine I guess and probably not required to name the game, and it would be assumed that this applies to all games. If it's something of an element of a particular game like someone mentioning chan resource or something like a topic mentioning Firebird bay, then most people would pick up on knowing what game they're referring to, but it would still be good to name the game as there are always gonna be newbs browsing this forum, those who have no clues to what they are and probably don't have a bible to a particular game at all.

Well, having said all of that, I myself must also get into the habit of doing this as I know that might end up forgetting to write down the name of the game I could be referring to.

Of course another alternative is to make a radio button in the posting dialog box which you could select which games you're referring to EV C/O/N or universal. But then that's just too much for people to carry on their shoulders just to create this feature right?

I don't think that will happen. People will need to be responsible themselves about somehow getting the game they are discussing across.

    • Personally, I feel we should be making more use of the FAQ system. It's a good idea, but I'm seeing far too many questions repeated over and over again.

    • Questions have a way of repeating, but when you look at many of the so-called repeats, they often have some twists that make them unique. As long as things don't get too repetitive too often, I think it will be fine.

    • Yea, I agree with mrxak. While reading post after post after post after post of "I don't know what I'm doing, what do I do?" is annoying, most of the specific questions are actually pretty valid. As for stating which EV you're asking a question about, generally most questions are now for EVN. The EVO guys usually state that they're doing EVO. I haven't seen any problems recently.
