    • Making ships

I am new to trying to make ships with EV, and would like to know how. I do have ResEdit 3.1.2 I think, and have various ship constructing apps, i.e., ShipYards, Ship Edit, I would also like to know about PICTs and such. Thanks

    • Simply put, you need some sort of 3D graphics program to make your ship graphics. POVRay is a small 7mb download from (url="http://"http://www.povray.org")www.povray.org(/url), and is quite easy to make ships once you learn it. It is the program that I currently use. Strata 3D is recommended by a lot of artists on this webboard and is a graphical modeler (as opposed to POVRay's raytracer). After you've made your ship in the 3D program, you render it in a 36 frame animation, where the ship starts at 0 degrees (pointing up), and rotates through 350 degrees (almost back up again). Keep note of how large (in pixels) each frame is, because that is necessary for making your spins. You run it through w00tware's sprites, and it'll array all your rendered frames in a format suitable for use in EV. It's tough to explain everything here, but why don't you build a 3D model of your ship and come back. If not, someone else can continue where I leave off.
