Would it be possible to somehow make a missile fire, start fairly slowly, and increace speed to the target?

    • If you're talking about an unguided weapon then yes, set the type to Freeflight Rocket.
But, if you're talking about a guided weapon, then I don't think there's a way of doing it, and certainly not in EVClassic or EVO, but I assume you are talking about Nova.

Shouldn't there be something in this space?

Submuntions, you can make something like a 3 stage guided missile. every stage going a bit faster.

That would work - there's just one problem: the AI calculates range of a weapon based only on the first stage - which is why you never have to worry too hard about Polaris multitorps, b/c if you're close enough for them to be fired at you, you're probably dead anyway. Hopefully 1.0.1 will allow us to either specify a max range, or specify the number of submunitions to count for range, or something; but for now only flak type submunition weaponry is feasible for AI use (well, actually, there are a few other things I came up with... be creative...) Of course, if the player is going to be the only one using the weapon anyway...
