I was wondering because I use Photoshop :D. That's right I have the $600 program and man, is it good. It's so much better than GraphicConverter. What does everyone else use?

I use Photoshop for practically everything, unless I need a vectored piece (or non-dithered text), in which case I use Illustrator.

I use photoshop on a regular basis for just about everything under the sun. Work, Fun, Homework, and EV. I wrote my own library of EV-Specific actions to aid plugin development. Unfortunatly, I had to re-write them all for Nova. (Not quite done yet)
The basic library includes tools that help to resize sprites, sharpen masks (They come out of C4DXL in 256 greys), drop the color depth in large batches of files. All EXTREMELY simple stuff to create but it can save hours. Thank god for file->automate->batch

Photoshop keeps the world together. I've used it since 2.0...
Infini-D, Cinema 4D, Illustrator, GoLive, LiveMotion, and PageMaker are a few more I use.

Yeah I use all those too, Captain Skyblade. I have just about all of the Adobe programs. Photoshop, Illustrator, ImageReady, GoLive, LiveMotion, PageMaker and I also use Bryce (not made by Adobe) for planet landscapes. In Photoshop, its so easy to make a mask of a ship. All you have to do is turn it into a Grayscale and then adjust the colors so they're all white. If you want instructions and you have Photoshop, feel free to IM me.

I use Photoshop for just about everything, Illustator for complex vector graphics, Bryce for planet landscapes and backgrounds, and Cinema 4D for 3D animation and design.

I haven't done much in the way of EV graphics (yet!), but my graphics arsenal has always consisted of Photoshop and GraphicConverter as two of my mainstays. I don't believe Photoshop can be topped for content creation, and while GC sucks in this area, it has it's own set of strengths where Photoshop runs a little thin.
Other apps I commonly use are Efter Effects, Bryce, Strata3D, and several other apps by Strata. I'm not much into 3D modeling, and I've never really used vector graphics (hence why I lack Illustrator). For web stuff I'm loyal to Dreamweaver (I didn't like Adobe's equivalent programs).

Until very recently, 100% GraphicConverter because I simply couldn't afford Photoshop. Now, however, I have more moneys

Thats the beauty of school labs. I can't afford C4DXL, or PhotoChopShop, or dreamweaver, or illistrator, or FinalCut pro.., But I can Use them all I want.
But A combination of Graphic Converter and Photoshop is all you really need.

Please share as to what these are. If they're worth it, I'll check into GC.

If you can use Photoshop's clipping paths, you'll get a good feel for how to do vector imaging. That's how I got better at Illustrator (I'm the king of the clipping path).

School labs? Bah, I work for a graphic design firm, and so I use the copies on my work computer at home, as well. This is how I have Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, FileMaker, Quicken, Quark XPress, ATM...

The Epson Perfection 2450 Photo scanner we got at work came with a copy of PS Elements (I gave to my girlfriend, since she didn't have jack squat on her iBook and wanted to make some graphics for her website). I know that isn't much of a choice, but I thought I'd just mention it so that if you were looking for a scanner you could kill two birds with one stone (and that scanner is awesome; firewire is nice and fast, and it has tons of great options).

Well GC is shareware to begin with, and it's a pretty good deal. Although it's only rudimentary as an image editor, I like it's batch conversion features, along with others along those lines. Photoshop does have them, but I find it to be user-unfriendly.
BBEdit is another app I keep on hand, and I do use it to touch up HTML sometimes. But I prefer to use Dreamweaver to set everything up visually.
